I would have to agree with a lot of the things people have been saying. One thing that has to be understood just like many have said is a "mentor" is usually someone that is trying to sale you something or trying to get you to join their organization.
This happens all the time.
It just happened to me this weekend I was at a seminar where different business owners and people with different backgrounds gathered and I ran into an individual who said he was willing to help with whatever I needed, and do not get me wrong his track record was incredible. So after the conference I emailed him and he told me there were some things he thought would be of some assistance. Well long story short they were his opportunity websites, that was not what I was looking for and all credibility was lost!
You will learn from which ever path you take, one thing I will say as some advice is if you have someone that has been successful (especially in the business your in) your looking in the wrong direction.
JUST DO WHAT THEY DO!!
Your mind tends to complicate things in too many ways. If there is someone in your upline that is successful follow what they do, its that simple. But the main thing is to keep doing it and do not let anyone else tell you different. Just about every company has a national conference, and all the BIG MONEY EARNERS DO THE TRAINING RIGHT. Well do you think each one of those trainers is back stage taking note on the next trainer to figure out how they will do something different?
NO!!
They have a proven system and they will continue to do that, and you must do the same. As the old saying goes, IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!

Re: Help I am overwhelmed by mentor emails!
I see where you are coming from, I also signed up on way too many websites. What annoys me a little is the frequence of the emails, I get like 3 emails a day from the same person, saying pretty much the same things... they need to let you rest a little while you take time to digest the previous information. they're not doing it right.
However, I do rescue plenty of good ideas from these mentor emails, so you might wanna check out a couple of them and mark the rest as spam
cheers!

Re: Help I am overwhelmed by mentor emails!
Good day Donna.
What a great topic and what a great response! It looks to me like you have some insight on proper marketing as we speak taking a look at the responses you're getting and the people involved. Looks like the comments people have been giving you are great.
To give you my perception or point of view may take a while but I will give you some hints. It's kind of hard to find out the scoop on people in the network marketing business just like it is in the regular business world when you believe one thing and trust people and then you find out the former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market was masterminding a Ponzi scheme.
Some people can portray truth, honesty and integrity their entire life to you and one day you find out they flipped the script and rolled over living a life of a lie, doing anything and everything just for the MONEY. That happens but hopefully never to you.
To try to sum up my point with network marketing and mentoring I would think for anyone new to the industry to seek someone who can fulfill your wants. There are lots of things that should be in place for your security but here are a few...
1.) Is the person who wants to mentor you willing to allow you to freely see them at work or access to their system?
2.) Does the company your future mentor represent put you first in mind meaning does their compensation plan adhere to the distributors needs first and the companies second?
3.) Does your future mentor represent something that people want and are willing to pay for without having to sign up to receive some "wholesale price?" And does that product work?
4.) Will your future mentor promise to spend X amount of time with you or pointing you to resources that are available where you can put in the time to learn? Will they tell you it will take some time depending on your current skills or do they say anyone can do it and you can expect to make your money back your first month?
5.) Does your future mentor represent a company who has experience working in the field in more than 3 network marketing companies?
These questions may seem like you will have to do a lot of your own research but you are worth it. It would be nice if all mentors were already millionaires and could show you their paychecks but the neat thing about network marketing is the people at the bottom may not have the million dollar paycheck yet, but if they have the right Master Mind Group who can show you what works, you can tap into that.
The reason I say that is because when you get to the stage where you are going to mentor people, does that mean before they decide to join you that you should be an established millionaire yourself? I guess no one or only a few would be able to fit that bill in network marketing.
Ask your future mentor to show you everything about their company including the Policies and Procedures, the Compensation Plan, the Products, the System they are using, talk with other people within the organization who are already having success.
The most important thing I can say is even if you meet an incredible mentor, if the company they represent isn't built upon integrity with you in mind from the beginning, it doesn't matter how awesome that mentor is. You must have a solid foundation built around integrity throughout everyone who's participating.
Well, that's a start and best wisdom wishes to you.

Well meaning, but bad advice.
It is fine to check what people are offering, in the form of advice, by joining their Newletters even from different sites, but if you don't find the information useful, Why are you going to mark their newsletter as Spam?
When you mark something as Spam you hurt someones business, with some Auto-resopnders it only takes 1% spam reports for you account to be canceled. That means that if you have 1000 readers you are allowed 10 spam reports or less, what if you have 100 readers or less? It is the new guy that is going to get hurt, the one that least can afford it, and the one that is making the greatest investment.
If you feel like you can take someones advice, use some of it for your benefit, and you are not buying from them or joining their opportunity, remember that they most likely paid very good money for that knowledge that they are sharing with you, at the very least don't do them any harm.

Dgeta, Boy do I know the feeling, Thinking is was being supportive of other BN members I did fillout quite a few "Capture Pages" Disquised URLs led me into Spam Purgatory, and being a newbie I did not know to use a gmail account, I used my business e-mail and had 3-400 e-mails from everytopic on the planet. So be real carefull out there some capture pages are false in that where you think you are inquiring about one subject you "Opted" in to the spam world!!
I have only one problem with Mentors, And that is the one therory. Just look at your education and the various teachers / proffessors who effected you life. We are way beyond the one room school house. No one person can be all things to any one person. So if you have found a mentor you are comfortable with, consider that kidergarten in this industry. Be a perpetual student, keep ypu r mind open and learn to use BN effectively. Subject by subject, the mentors abound, Read my article called "Hitting the wall" And the poen within "Angel's voice" there are many guardian angels onBN, who will steer you straight in every area you need. If you need a hand finding the best of the best fell free to contact me and we can sort out your objectives, isolate your strength and identify your weaknesses, and build with the correct"Angel" from there

Re: Help I am overwhelmed by mentor emails!
With all the great idea's I must let you all know I think I've got it. specially here at BNW my favorite mentor is here, he would rather I dont say his name
. We not only get along well but every time I email him he has an answer for me, with alot of experience and kindness. The part I think I like most about him is that he never tryes to sell me. He is with a company I never would join I dont like the idea of what or who they are. But he does have one site I really like learned about it on his blog. His wife is online too and I dont even know how I met them there just great people. I hope every newbie has a good experience with this it really is very confusing some times.
Thank you all for your help
Im very happy with my mentor.

I have to agree about being overwhelmed...there is so much on offer here wading through it and weeding out the people who are just selling another e book and finding the people who actually have what I need are taking up more time than my actual business right now! Im hoping that by spending some time now I will get to know the people to listen to...
