Hi fellow networkers....
I have watched all of Perry's and Mike's video about social media as well as the 50 million remakes by individual networkers. I have been on twitter now for a few weeks and I must say I LOVE IT. I have met some great people and some very talented people. My "followers" as they call them grow constantly which according to the experts is a good thing. Today, being in one of my lazy, reflecting moods, I spent a good portion of the day watching the new tweets come in trying to get a notion as to the next step. Over and over again, I see the blatant hardcore marketing disguised as an attempt to be friendly...
Now as if I wasn't frustrated enough, the day ended with several networkers arguing over what it takes to keep a "follower"
Now you guys tell me......WHO IS CONFUSED?

Re: Social Media - Who Doesn't Get It!!!!
I don't know why it should be confusing...
the whole thing is simple, just be you. as perry said, don't use social media to sell. use social media to socialize.
For example, i've started using Facebook a LOT lately and it generates tons of leads for me. All i've done is linked my facebook to my twitter account with the twitter application. And every so often i create some updates on my twitter of the latest happenings in my life. This also updates on my facebook--and if the happening is interesting enough i get responses both on twitter AND facebook.
The thing is that on facebook, most of what i write or contribute is for the benefit of my family and friends--so i am totally social. I don't intend to market to that group of people at all!!
So how is it that i get business leads?
Ok, it's simple--first of all i use just the right blend of personal and business postings. I post videos of my travels, an evening out with my brother or friends, links to funny stuff i saw online and so on--this gets people interacting with me and entertained by my profile. We talk back and forth in comments and chat.
Then I also have videos that are valuable to network marketers. I post about these and they are now MUCH more likely to be clicked by someone who was entertained by my personal stuff in the first place than by someone who sees nothing but boring sales pitches.
So what's next for you? You've built a following--start socialising with them. Respond to their tweets, create your own regular tweets--try to get interaction. Share your pictures, share your videos, share your business ups and downs and the goings on in your life. And once in a while share your useful business article or video that you wrote.

I see updates on others and try to be friendly and talk about what they have posted and no one responds. It is like everyone is afraid to talk to new people on twitter. Maybe it is just me, but I have noticed that.
I just wrote about this in a similar post called Social Media Meltdown check it out!

Exactly!!!! They set up these automatic twitter drips and if you do respond to one of them, you hear nothing! Now, not all are like that because like I said I have met some great people!
If the purpose of twitter is to interact, then they shouldn't allow the automatic drips or at least limit the amount of them per day.

Like sometimes I ask questions or comment about something that I found to be interesting. However I get snubbed. I do not get a response back. I do not know what it is? Anyone experience this?
PS. I do not spam anyone at all. Not once have I posted my opportunity or anything that would benefit me, because I do not want to turn people off.
What I've found on twitter is it is all about you. Regardless if someone responds or not continue to make your post. Let the people who are interested follow you and the ones who don't were not meant to be in your circle. You have to remember that everyone is different so whoever thinks like you will gravitate to you.

yep exactly and that's why i find the facebook connection is so useful too because you widen your audience to include people other than those twitter spammers

Re: Social Media - Who Doesn't Get It!!!!
I have been on twitter for about 2 weeks. So far so good. I just act like myself and post up messages about what Im doing at any given moment. I have not had a problem with people following me on twitter. Im just still confused as to how these people find me? Maybe through the search. Im amazed as to how many people are following me already. I didnt know I was interested...hahahaha....
I would love to see more inter-action between the people. I have like 40 plus followers but, sometimes I send them direct messages and they don't write back. Very few do. Its like everyone just wants to add alot of friends as fast as possible with no communication.
Is there any sites dedicated to mastering Twitter????

Re: Social Media - Who Doesn't Get It!!!!
I found, that if I follow them too, then they can see me respond to them, and they reply back. I have had a few who do not respond, like some leaders, but go figure, so I don't bother with them now.
Been great though. I do update consistently and I also noticed, when you write..
"So what do you think?" I get response.
Or, I write something funny, I get a big response.
Or, I show I am human and show mistakes, I get even a bigger response lol.
Best to be yourself and give it time. I don't really do it for following but I just update my mates on what I'm doing, or sharing tips, or great website I've seen, or great knowledge, or who is doing what in network marketing. Lately I getting quiet a bit joining and following.
Twitter is great and when you know how to utilise it and not sell, you do get lots of leads. I even created my own background instead of the pattern repeat kind of thing. Going to change it soon so it goes with my branding and doing same with youtube, and rest.
Then link them all together. You can do a great background with your website links on your left hand side, and that way people who follow you can see, if they look at your profile.
I want to try to corporate it my future blog, and my own social community forum site I'm building. I think not to take it serious if people don't reply. Just keep doing it cause you want to and hang around with those who do. Simple really.

Your right. Most people do not get the 1st rule of this business. You have to be a friend 1st and then maybe latter ask them to join.
