Get comfortable with your business.

The Comfort Zone
You know, when you are looking for good leaders, you want commitment. People who are willing to do the work. I know people who will go and wash dishes 40 hours a week, or mow lawns. But will not consider having their own business and working 10-15 hours at it. Sounds ridiculous right? It's because "a business of their own" is something new and a bit frightening. We all grew up cutting the grass or doing dishes at one time or another. A familiar activity.

"I'll cut your lawn but I won't do that!"

How do we make what we do a familiar activity for them? How do we get their comfort level to a place that makes their business easier to handle, as easy as cutting the grass? In my group, we have put together a success plan that takes all the guess work out of the business. A formula that works. A familiarity for success. And it starts with leadership and good communication. It's not about the products we market and sell. It's all about us.

I'm always looking for just a few good people to get comfortable working their business.
Because that leads to success. And then just duplicate!

I am BookWise.

Hey Dave ...

You make some very valid points in your posting about being comfortable with your business.

And if you don't mind  I want to add a little of my two cents there too.

I have found that the folks that achieve the most success in this industry are the folks that take the time to become good students of the industry AND of the company / products they represent.

This is VITAL for folks that may be just venturing into the world of MLM entrepreneurship! WHY? Because many times folks are coming from a traditional 'work' model and most of their friends and family come from that model as well. So this self employed stuff is something VERY unusual for them to swallow.

SO even though these new folks in the business are excited and motivated, there can be a little "uncomfortableness" due to the fact that this home based business is now a major paradigm shift for them.

What I like to tell my new associates, is to do the following:

(1) Get as much training as you can about the industry (sites like this help)
(2) Get on our coaching calls / support systems for our team
(3) Avail yourself of all of the company provided training materials
(4) DEVOUR all of these things AND write down your biggest questions / concerns
(5) Let's get together to address these big concerns / talk about them

Once you do this with your new associates, you have now given them INFORMATION that in turn, gives them CONFIDENCE in what they are doing ... and in turn ... that creates a feeling of "COMFORTABLENESS" so that they can go out and share the business with their prospects.

The side effect of this? The PROSPECTS will SEE and FEEL that confidence / comfortableness in the new distributor ... and that will make the PROSPECT feel more at ease and more open to hearing more about the opportunity / products.

I like to put it this way ...

COMPETENCE breeds CONFIDENCE

CONFIDENCE breeds COMFORTABLENESS

COMFORTABLENESS breeds COMPENSATION

Dave ... great to see you here on the board! You are a real rising star in Bookwise and glad to be working with you!
