Well, it can be if you don't know what you're doing.

In light of the Post your Twitter ID forum topic, I've noticed a lot of things I'd like to share.

First of all I like ya'll. Matter of fact I have a lot of love for this community and what we all stand for. I've gladly and eagerly visited a lot of the Twitter pages that people posted in that forum, clicked the links to your websites and made an unfortunate discovery.

This is a shock to me especially because any Better Networker should know better.

Why do you have the url that you can provide on Twitter directing people to your..dun dun dunnnn OPPORTUNITY PAGE!

Say it ain't so. Tell me that you haven't missed the wealth of information provided here, the foundation of all that is Better about being a Networker....ohhhhh. Lord help me! lol

Come on ya'll. This is basic. Attraction Marketing 101. DO NOT LEAD WITH YOUR OPPORTUNITY!

I know Twitter is the new addiction and you probably get bubble guts at the idea of leveraging it for new prospects and what not. But don't get it confused. It's no different than any other social media forum.

Because I love you, I leave you with this.

1. Don't post your opportunity URL. Period. Send your followers somewhere that speaks more to the value you provide as a leader. If you want an example of what makes sense to me, go see my Twitter page.

2. As Fernie eluded to, don't have the letters MLM in your URL on Twitter. Just don't.

3. For your own sake don't blast people about meaningless nonsense. [b]Add Value Value & More Value. Find something worth sharing. A link to a vid, an amazing article you read, something.

4. Hint: Follow conversations. But don't but in. Pretend you're at a live networking event. Watch the movement. See who you'd like to talk to and play nice. Find out what people are in need of and then get it for them. Can't go wrong with that.

5. Don't spend all day on it. Get in and get out. Some adults play Twitter like kids play Playstation.

There's much more to know about what you should do and how to really leverage it, but I'll post more on that later.

Thanks for the data. Being a newbie on all this I probably would have made this exact mistake. Your pointing it out and why makes totally sense to me and I should have known what you said already - but like I said, I probably would have made that exact mistake.

Hi Colin,

I've been a member here at BN for just a little over a month and been involved with internet marketing for about 6 (months)...and even I know that you don't lead with your dang opportunity.

Maybe someone that's a bit more articulate than myself should write something on getting back to basics, or MLM-101, call it what you please, but this is beyond dumb, this is just...well, I'm not going to use the word that's called for. I just don't understand it, whomever has GOT to know better.

Every serious marketer really should have
their own squeeze page/blog with you as
the leading man/woman.

I havn't changed my links in twitter yet
as I'm still working on my blog and squeeze
page. Learning how to set up a wordpress
blog is a bit of a challenge.

by the way, if anybody know of a good,
fairly priced wordpress designer, shoot
me a pm for his contact details.

I'm not looking for anything flashy, just
something nice, simple, and with enough
room for me to expand my blog as I see fit.

It's really easy to get in the pattern of thinking that any interaction with anybody at any time calls for the introduction of your opportunity.

It's OK to have in the back of your mind the thought of the possibility of getting someone you just met involved in your business, but you don't have to be psycho, ha ha.
