Twitter baffles me.There are so many applications people use for it but there seems to be no common area to go to for information on all of these applications. I feel left behind when I see some of the posts on Twtter
Please share any tips, applications, shortcuts etc for Twitter with me so I can get on top of this giant!

Believe me I feel your pain. I am new on Twitter and I keep getting the feeling that I am cassette in an MP3 world. I am not a techie at all and this is a little overwhelming for me.
I will be watching the responses you get so I can perhaps learn too.
Thanks for posting the question

Re: I feel like a Twitter Turd! Please Help Me
Hi Ladies - I'm relativly new to Twitter - only about a month with a little over 200 followers. I have tweet deck on my desk top and occasionally use Twitterific on my iphone but that's really it and I get along just fine. Don't get bogged down in all the apps people develop for Twitter. Just use Twitter itself and add to the people you follow. They will reciprocate. One thing I've found helpful is search.twitter.com which allows you to search out people with common interests - MLM, home business, hobbies...whatever. That way the people you add you'll have things in common with. Add me to your list and I'll do the same: Twitter.com/DanHerzner.

I'm a techie idiot as well, and when I tried Twitter, I felt the same way as you did.
But you don't have to master it before you can use it. Just use the basic functions such as posting updates about yourself, inviting friends, responding to other people's updates..etc.
Eventually you'll get the hang of it. In fact, the Twitter interface is way much easier than Betternetworker (just to illustrate!!! BN still rocks.)

I would use TweetDeck and follow Mr.Tweet. TweetDeck allows you to organize and sort all of the incoming tweets as well as ones that are for you. It can also group your friends and what not.
Then I would follow Mr.Tweet as he will give you bi weekly updates on people who you should be following and who are following you.
Want to know how I get people to follow me everyday? check out my profile picture, it's what mainly gets me a ton of followers. http://twitter.com/socialnate

Re: I feel like a Twitter Turd! Please Help Me
Great question and some good feedback here. Twitter is worth learning. I have been using it for several months and see regular traffic to my information. In fact I posted a Podcast on Better Networker called BizPack Prelaunch. After uploading it on Better Networker I posted on Twitter "new podcast with the tiny url" and had 50 hits in one minute! I have had over 200 hits to that podcast on Better Networker and see daily registrations to BizPack.
I use TweetDeck - I love the search option. You can put in a keyword and it will pull up people that are talking about your keyword and you can target your audience.
Keep searching and follow me on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/michaelbristol

Re: I feel like a Twitter Turd! Please Help Me
I love Twitter, i have it on my Rumor, and i also connect it to all my other social Networks. It makes keeping EVERYONE in ALL my sites in the know about what i am doing. Don't try and overcomplicate twitter, once you start to get overwhelmed you will start getting frustrated, and then frustration leads to NO ACTION.
Just share yourself (well not all yourself) but intrique people with yourself, make them want to know a little more, just don't be spammy. Talk about any training that you are doing, any calls you have been a lpart of. Just overcomplicate it. It is just another blog.

Perry Belcher has a great video on how to use Twitter. It is about 10 minutes long. I posted it on my blog a few weeks ago if you want to watch it.

There are a lot of different applications for Twitter, but if you are new, just use the website for now. Post anything you want, what you are doing now, interesting article, funny video, ask questions, anything. Stay active and people will start following you.
The video above will help you a lot about what to post and where to find information (content) to post.
