Re: Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto - Does Anyone Care?
Why bother to rehash and rework an old theme?
As a writer (not of content but of "the human condition"), one of my biggest stumbling blocks is feeling it has all been said before. Really, Walt Whitman ruined it for all us poets. Why write the 1000th opinion on a book or film? Why retell Cinderella? Why write a report on attraction marketing...
It has all been said before, right?
When I jumped back into my masters degree program at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR back in 2004-2006 (I studied Language and Literacy) I waded my way through all six volumes of Stith Thompson's Motif-Index of Folk Literature.
Seriously, I can assure you, that indeed, everything has been said before, and it's been said in every language on every continent.
There is nothing new under the sun. Thankfully, this does not totally paralyze all authors (or marketers) from adding to the universal library of written works (or providing value to the community at-large). We are thus fortunate to continue to receive new twists on old themes.
And I'd bet a big bag of dog food and a month's supply of cloth diapers that Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto is going to be well written.
We can and will all relate Ann Sieg's upcoming Attraction Manifesto to dozens of other reports, manifestos, ecourses, whatever package it has been brought to us. The elements of attraction
marketing are becoming more well known, especially for those of us in this forum having this discussion.
We've all seen elements of this tale many times before, and we will see them many times again.
This should not, however, be an indictment of Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto (or Eric Walker's Attraction Marketing Mind, or whatever it is and so on).
The themes she reworks in The Attraction Manifesto, for "us" (the ones who have already accepted them) are part of our collective consciousness.
They are not only the stuff of our musings (like this forum), but also our memories (where were you when you first read Magnetic Sponsoring - how did you find it and what was your network marketing situation at the time). It's become an important part of our lives.
So, I can't unconditionally recommend The Attraction Marketers Manifesto to everyone. It certainly won't appeal to everyone. But its going to reach multiples of thousands, maybe more, and it will make for profound changes in our network marketing industry when it's all said and done. The themes definitely offer inquiring young network marketing minds (as well as older ones) a lot of food for thought.

Re: Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto - Does Anyone Care?
Nice post Eric, and some truly engaging conversation. In my opinion anything that a industry leader puts out is worth having on my bookshelf.Whether that be Ann Sieg or Mike Dillard, and yes even though they do have different approaches and perspectives they appeal to different people in different ways.Nothing wrong with that.So just like anything else its a personal choice,I think the great thing about what Mike Klingler has done is that he has exposed both of them to thousands of people giving everyone chance to get to know them both .So to me its not a matter of choosing one over the other its a matter of learning and taking advantage of what they both have to offer. And I agree with Mike Klingler on this one, Leonardo summed it up best.

I like the summation Eric...actually I was surprised at how vehement some were in response to Eric's question. Does it really matter that much to people if someone creates a new piece of education (even if it's a re-working of that which has been said before) that could possibly reach some or benefit some? Some like Ann's work. Some don't. If you don't like it, don't read it. Many people have been able to explode their businesses because of her writings and her message. For those people she is a godsend.
The fact that she has the drive to take action and build on her past successes by coming out with a new product...even if it's repetetive in some ways..is a good thing. There will be those who read her "Manifesto" and something will click for them, which has not clicked before in other courses or trainings. And isn't that what communication is all about...using different styles and re-working content to reach a wide variety of people?
Will I read it...probably skim it...as I like to know all that is out there so that I can choose things to recommend to others from a large selection of learning materials.
BTW...If anyone has dibs on "Manifesto"..it should really be Kark Marx

I think it also goes back to this fact, which I know Ann Sieg's Manifesto will address, and that is while traditional network marketers are pitching value-less "plan showing," "opportunity calls," and "DVD mailings" their so-called prospects will go to the internet to look for more information. And what will they find when they fishing for more information...well if you've done it correctly, they'll find YOU.

Re: Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto - Does Anyone Care?
I was doing some keyword research, and googled "ann sieg attraction manifesto."
Interestingly enough, this forum thread was in the number one position.
Doing relatively the same search, with one tweak - "ann sieg attraction marketing manifesto" and this thread is first page at the #8 spot.
I think this speaks volumes about the power of SEO, the pull of BetterNetworker and the value we should try to bring to the forum here.

Re: Ann Sieg's Attraction Manifesto - Does Anyone Care?
Is it for You, or Your Target Market?
When I first came across Renegade University, and watched the video training, I saw immediate value in it. Many of the videos went into much more detail than I personally needed, but I recognized that I am more computer literate than a very large percentage of the population (even though I might be in the lower half of those here). So, I knew the training videos would appeal to a large number of people in my target market; new or frustrated network marketers who needed help creating an online presence.
I think the same can probably be said for this upcoming e-book. You may not personally get much out of it, though if you read the book with a "beginner's mind", you may pick up one or two new ideas, or see something in a slightly different way. The important point, though, is that you can offer something to your target market that will be easily digestible for them. My first impression is that this book will appeal to a very similar target market as Renegade University; the new and/or frustrated network marketer, who doesn't know much about building an online presence.
Too Many Manifestos?
I am actually happy that there is another new book using the term, "Manifesto". It will give the name more exposure, and contrasts and comparisons can be made between the two texts (or more as the case may be). As Deb so appropriately pointed out, the name dates back much further than January of this year!
A Manifesto is a document meant to define ongoing intent. The interesting question is, whose Manifesto is this, really? Is it Ann's Manifesto as it relates to her entire organization moving forward, or is it a Manifesto for anyone who reads the book, guiding them on how they should carry their business forward? I think it is both, though the main emphasis is probably on the latter.
The Next Wave
We all know the economy is creating an entirely new target market for us. The educated and highly skilled professional who is finding themselves "downsized" into unemployment. The small business owner who got swept up in the economic downturn, and lost their business. These people would never have taken a look at network marketing as a viable option before, but times are demanding a second look at many things.
A professionally produced book like the 'Attraction Marketer's Manifesto', that gets into the marketing strategies that it does, and treats network marketing like a bona fide business that these people can apply their skills and intelligence to, simply by adapting a little and learning some new strategies and techniques, will carry a lot of weight. I think this group will definitely like what they read. This is good first exposure for them to the principles of attraction marketing.

What I take from it is that google wants relevant content to climb the ranks.
