So You Want To Sell Me Something

Postby on Sat Feb 21, 2009 8:54 am

There's been quite a bit of discussion over the last couple of months on how to properly build and attract prospects to your online business. So I thought I'd throw this question out there to get some feedback on how you've built your business online or are in the beginning stages and are looking for ideas and strategies on how to get started on the foot.

1)Do you use a lead generation system sit back and wait for a flood prospects of to come knocking at your door.
2)Are you harassing and interrupting peoples life's to were they can't any more.
3)What about building relationships, and how are you doing this.
4)Do you think that by positioning yourself as a value based provider will attract prospects to you.
5)Are you blatantly pitching your products on every forum or social site you belong too.

Just some food for thought, looking forward to your comments.
Persistence and Determination is a must, training plus action equals success !And above all else don't ever quit.

Hi Kevin, Let me start by answering your questions:

)Do you use a lead generation system sit back and wait for a flood prospects of to come knocking at your door. It's a great idea to use MANY systems simultaneousy. See which one is working best for you over time. I never "sit back and wait". Be in Action Mode daily; doing something on behalf of your business.
2)Are you harassing and interrupting peoples life's to were they can't any more. Most MLM upline will tell you to build a list of friends and family and start with them. That doesn't always work. You should approach the ones you think that could benefit best from your product or service, but keep in mind, they need to know how it would benefit them. Focus on the benefit to them.3)What about building relationships, and how are you doing this. By social networking, blogging, writing articles. Put yourself out there and brand your skills. 4)Do you think that by positioning yourself as a value based provider will attract prospects to you. Of course, people are going to buy into your product or service because of YOU. Brand YOU! They will see you as an authority figure. This is what builds the trust in the relationship.5)Are you blatantly pitching your products on every forum or social site you belong too. Never pitch your product on social sites, pitch yourself! You are the Prize! It's what YOU can do for them!

The only thing I'm selling is me. Once I understood that, my business
took the fast track elevator.

1. I have a "rough" system, but until it starts generating the ROI I am happy with I am going to keep changing it. I actually just sat down and wrote out by hand a 16 page report about "The 5 Secrets You Must KNow Before Getting Started in a Home Based Business. I am going to give this out to people who request information.

2. This reminds me of the only saying: I quit following up when someone BUYS OR DIES!!!!

It all seriousness I have email message that send out regularly. Plus I put on promotions for upcoming dates like St. Patrick's Day.

3. I build relationships by writing articles, posting videos, paying it forward from experience, and helping people on a regular basis. Even if I never make a dime from helping some buddy out!

4. My positioning comes from posture and control. Being a leader is a SIMPLE CHOICE. You make the decision, then DO IT! Don't condition being a leader to some kind of achievement or anything else, just take the position and run with it!

5. Honestly, YES I AM PITCHING EVERYBUDDY ONE ME!!!!! :)

Every where I go I am giving people a reason to know me and trust me.

This is exactly what Mike Klingler teaches, lay a value based foundation first by using lost cost or free tools which establishes relationships and trust. This is most effective way to build a business online, get to know your list, let your list get to know you.By doing this you're creating a win,win situation for everyone.Remember its not about unselfishly promoting your products and services all over the web,its about building business and in many cases personal relationships, this is what's gonna keep you in business long term.

I'm same, writing articles, got a blog which I share knowledge, just waiting for camera now, to post more so they see my face.

But one thing I have done which I never thought could happen but has. The people on my list, well, I got to know many of them and I had a chat on phone, got to them really well. And what's happened is, for those in UK on my list, we've actually met.

They invited me to their home and well, I went, we chat and I haven't talked about business but just got know them better, their family and all. I had some where we went and played snooker. And these are ones who call and I call them, and directing them now to training they want.

But those not in uk its phone. It's been great because their needs is now more clearer and I can help to write and create courses, books, training but geared towards their needs, the value they want instead of second guessing kind of thing.

I've learnt a lot from my prospects and their sharing so many things about what they want that I'm just, well, blown away. I didnt' think they'd be that open really but I just ask questions, write them down, and relay this on phone but also on my emails too.

I owned my own business before computers became the cool way to get around. So I've had to learn the different techniques to work my way around. You can never sit back, you've always got to be ready for action, but you have to listen to the subtle hints he or she is telling you. You have to get your name out there, but do it in a non offensive way, which will leave positive feelings toward you and what your all about. I work personally with all the people on my list, I make personal contact with them and make sure they understand everything properly. If they need their hands held when nothing happens, I do that. If they need a kick in the butt to motivate them, You have to be able to do that. Whatever they need you have to be able to deliver, so whomever will be happy with you.

One thing many fall into is the management trap, where they spend all their time with their team or whomever, you can't do that, it will drain you and you won't have the energy to do what you need to do, just make sure your their for your team, answer their questions by whatever means personally and properly and help them to succeed, but make sure you don't do it for them, just help them, so they will learn how to do it properly.
