If you are in MA...then this is the place to be! until I 'hear' from the Big Boss...I am volunteering myself as the unofficial forum guy here. please ask me for help, especially if you are a 'newbie'. I am a full time marketer now, between MA and general Internet Marketing...so I have learned a great deal about integrating the two sides! The 'real' side of person to person and the 'invisible' Internet aspect.
I will be checking in every 2 days 3 at the worst, but if you need to ask something, please e-mail me at-> key@youropc3.com

Ryndal,
not to be difficult...BUT this area IS for posting about a company...Market America! and so it should be expected that the posts be relevant to the topic.
and it is and is not about the company. people need to feel confident that a person can lead them to some degree of success in the company you are involved in! having the attitude that "oh the company does not matter..." hardly instills confidence in people. it can make you sound like one of those 'leaders' that sign people up and then disappear, or become to 'busy' to help get them to where YOU promised you were going to take them.
people that 'come on board' with me have done so because they are excited about my 101% interest/commitment to Market America, my past experience(s) in business, AND what Market America has to offer...you really have to have both: you (leadership), and a company people to which people want to commit their time, money, and energy.

Re:Welcome!
Amen to that brother. Being versed in the world of network marketing (11 years) I started out with the belief that there are power in numbers. That still holds true as long as the numbers are filtered.
On a different note. How is MA. I had a short stint with it back in the alte 90's. I haven't heard much for it lately. Glad to see it is still around. What products are they offering now?

Re:Welcome!
HI Eric. I just spent some time looking over the MA site. Quite impressive. The problem is, I don't have a clue on how it works as far as MLM goes. :(
Is it anything like Quixtar? They have pretty much the same product base as MA but in order to use it you have to be sponsored.
So that leads to the next question. How is one to get sponsored.
OK. One more question. If sponsored, are there tough restrictions on
promoting the MA sites and recruiting down-line members?
I've been looking at "Q" for sometime now and, because my son is doing the recruiting, I will likely sign up. I do have some reservations about the restrictions applied by "Q".

Re:Welcome!
Hey there RT. I also looked at Quixtar, here is my take on it.
First, I did not sign for lots of reasons. They offer the products to customers directly, so in effect they are competing with thier distributors. Quixtar is owned by AmWay, and they are a network marketing company. They have lots of products, but are priced as to not be able to sell easily. In other words the profit margin is slim, that forces you to rely mainly on the business residual for income. That takes time, and most people will quit.
I am experienced in marketing, I have been doing it for many years. I am not trying to get you to think good or bad about the company, just giving you my honest oppinion. If your son is doing that business, I wish him a lot of luck. The Quixtar energy drinks are some of the best that I have ever seen, if the business was set up a little differently I would be part of them right now.
Eric: What is your MA site? I am curious to maybe take a look at what they are doing now. Also the compensation area, last I checked I think that they keep the products and business seperate.

Re:Welcome!
Hi Mike. Market America, MA, is a distribution line of products much like Quixtar now has, or may have had for a long time. That part I don't know..
I was just curious to see if MA is an MLM like the others.
Here is a link. Market America.
I can tell that you haven't looked at Quixtar for a while. Their product line is the same as MA. I see a lot of stuff on how lousy Quixtar is but I don't get why the negatives. They are a business just like any of the others out there.
Some of their marketing ideas should be brought into the 21st century but other than that I don't see what the problem really is.
Amway has been around since 1959 and their soap is sold around the world. I've lived 20 miles from their world headquarter ever since the two guys mixed their 1st box of soap in a wash tub in their basement in Ada Michigan.
That says to me that either their soap is pretty good or there is a world full of dummy's.
I've also heard/read that Quixtar and Amway are going to join forces. I have to say this to that; So? Who should care. Mergers happen every day of the year.
A NOTE: I'm not pushing either "A" or "Q" or "MA". I'm just commenting on your post and to say again that I am still curious about "MA."
Good marketing to all

Re:Welcome!
I think I may have been misunderstood. I do not mean that Amway or Quixtar (which are the same thing)are bad at all. I just personally did not feel that it was an opportunity to profit. In the long term, maybe... I agree that Amway has been around a very long time, they invented the industry. I don't have anything negative to say about Amway, I was just commenting that they are the same. Quixtar is supposed to be (according to the quixtar guy I talked to) the web version of amway. I am not educated on amway so I can speak intelligently about it.
Quixtar, I was mainly looking at the energy drinks, that was the niche I was looking to market because of the current popularity. When I looked I saw that Quixtar sells the product on their own, essentially taking business away from the distributors. I was only bringing up observations., not trying to stem a debate.
I encourage anyone to look thoroughly in to whatever they are about to dive in to and make an educated decision on whether it is a good fit for them. Furthermore, what may be good may not be good for someone else.
Thanks for a link to MA. I dealt with them in the late 90's. They were pretty good back then, but at the time I was not a good fit for them.

Re:Welcome!
sorry to not be on top of this thread...fell off my roof while cleaning the gutters, and
let me say owwwww! not been at the computer for a few days, and look at the interest!
so on to your queries:
first, let us try to NOT talk about other companies if possible, unless it is a question like "company XYZ does this? how does MAmerica do this..?" there are many good to great companies out there, and it is really up to each individual to decide what company 'jumps' at them...
as far as Market America...the first thing that I tell people is that it is NOT an MLM! which seems impossible to most people. Market America (MA) is a binomial Marketing Company. there are no levels, no break aways, the sales volume is counted to infinity, and best of all (to me at least) we all pay the same wholesale price! there are no 'special' prices for the big movers, from the new guy to the person making 50k a month...the wholesale price for any product is fixed.
MA allows you 2 options to work with them.
1) just being a sales rep. would enable you to buy at wholesale and sell at retail. no requirement other than to file (online) a report that you have sold 2+ sales exceeding $200 retail.
2) be a 'distributor', you do the above AND you can sponsor others...Market America is a built on a binomial structure, and after you sponsor only 1 person on each 'side' left/right, you now can collect on commissions on the volume of all of your sales AND 100% of the sales of the people under you...this is where many people go "so it is multi-level!" actually there are no levels, just generations...you ALWAYS get 100% of the business volume of people in your organization. (please note: you never have to sponsor more than those 2, though trying for more is a good idea as you MUST have 1 active distributor on each side/leg)
2a) in this mode there is a minimum 'buy' each month which works out to roughly $100/$200/$300 as you go up in levels. this really not much money, and you get it back as you sell the products.
2b) the portals provided by the company are ours! any purchases made there are that owners, and the retail profit is put in your account. the links to companies like Target, Nordstrom, and Disney function as a hybrid of affiliate referrals...if a
person makes a purchase you earn a commission.
often I get asked "why would people not just go right to say Target?" this is a good question! the answer is that when a person registers as a MA customer...ALL purchases from a portal (MA or partners) are tracked and go into a points pool which can be used to buy MA products or cashed in for checks!
so people can shop at the online stores they already use, but earn $$ from MAmerica
(this function alone just plain kicks the living daylights out of most any other plan)
take a look at my portal: youropc3.com and click on 'about MA'. it is a good flash presentation of how the 'system' model works.
personally I have looked at a lot of companies, and I really really love the products. they are all cutting edge, and many are exclusive or unique. you can promote 1,2,7 or
everything...the choice is up to each distributor.
*the caveat: there always is one! this is a real business, you have to put in some work! this is not a sit at home and wait for others to 'fill-in' your team company. there are forms to file every quarter (electronically), and you do need to stay in touch with your customers. (e-mail and database functions are part of the management functions available)
yes, there are a LOT of products, but you really only need to find 3-5 that really grab you and promote them, and your customers will explore your web-portal and find what they like on their own.
if you have any interest in looking further into MA feel free to e-mail with questions or for my number

Hey Eric,
That's great information that you've included in this post. I'm a MA Distributor myself up here in Canada and I just wanted to share these YouTube videos. I wasn't able to attend the Leadership Convention in Miami because my Grandmother passed away just before the event. I'll be in Greensboro. I hope to see you there. I've already purchased my ticket so there's no turning back. There's some exciting things happening in the company.
Anyway, here are the videos. If you were there then they are just repeat but if not check them out.
