Does Posting Ads Really Work?

Postby Allen Gregory on Mon Mar 09, 2009 10:41 am

Hey guys,

My company wants me to post ads to a bunch of classified sites. I'm sure I could post to quite a few in an hours time. However, I would like to know if anyone has had success with this. If so, can you point me in the direction you've taken? Also, is there something better, easier, or more effective that I could be doing? I'm comfortable with technology but I'm still a bit of a newbie with all of this. Any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Allen

Classified sites do work. I use them to promote a one of my businesses. I get a ton of traffic and a lot of new leads.

www.craigslist.org
www.backpage.com
www.usfreeads.com
www.kijiji.com
www.oodle.com

These are the top 5 I use. So to answer your question classifieds do work.

Thanks so much. I have been questioning Craigslist and Backpage simply because of their restrictions. But, yet, I keep getting the same positive feedback. And, thank you for adding in the additional sites.

i agree with jame23

those are the same classified ads i use.

backpage, craiglist(the biggest), kijiji, usfreeads, ebay

those are the best with the most traffic

Craigslist does have a lot of stuff you have to go through to get your classified ad through their stringent SPAM filters. There are ways around those filters, but it is very tricky and complicated. All the others posted here are great sources and yes they all do work. Just make certain you are consistent with your efforts.

I HIGHLY recommend all of you check out iList.com. Its a new social classifieds site that allows you to promote your listing on iList. craigslist, and your social networks. Its pretty a one-stop place for getting your ads and your businesses out in the open. Plus we allow unlimited pictures and you can post multiple ads if you wish. If you guys have any questions send me a message.

Gregory...
"Also, is there something better, easier, or more effective that I could be doing?"

Yes, Pay-Per Click!

James, Steven, et al...
How do you get around the "No MLM" and "No Business Opportunities" restrictions?

I used craigslist extensively for my real estate rental business. Seems that this was
an effective tactic, given my results. However, I am hesitant to blatantly violate
their clearly stated policies on my current venture.

I see the ads all the time, but wonder how long they last and how they get around
direct violation of the policy.

Steven,
"Just make certain you are consistent with your efforts."

Very good advice!

Thanks for starting this thread Allen!
I wanted to ask the very same question and its encouraging to see the positive comments.
My question at what rate does posting ads becomes effective? 2, 5, 10 ads per day?
Just trying to figure out what my level of activity needs to be to get results..
Thanks a lot

I have had lots of luck with Craigslist, but it does take lots of work! Selling vitamin supplements and a powdered energy drink called energyfizz has been a successful.

You have to make sure you are selling things in the right category and in the right cities.

I saw an interesting video from my friend Antonio Coleman
that shows you the best process for generating regular
free traffic from calssifieds. It's a little time consuming,
but pays off in the end. Antonio gets about 50,000 visitors
a day to his site.....not all from classifieds, of course...

If this is your first exposure to Antonio, make sure and listen to
the message. Ignore the accent.
