If you know me personally, you know I'm never the type to complain. I do my best to take full responsibility for my successes and failures. I consider myself proactive, and show others to do the same...
However, I do have one thing I wanted to express my frustrations over, but only to get feedback on the best way to handle it.
I'm getting pretty sick and tired of people subscribing to MY list, and then emailing me to pitch me on their business opportunity.
After I find out where they found my website, it's even MORE insulting. Most of them find it through Magnetic Sponsoring !!
This tells me they have all the knowledge and tools that Mike provides at their finger tips, yet they STILL don't get it!
I'm always tempted to ask "have you not learned a DAMN thing? Are you still clueless at the fact that I don't give a flying rats a** about your super duper compensation plan or dynomite product??"
So... for the purpose of educating our readers here, I'd like to get feedback on how to best respond to these types of people. How have you responded to them in the best manner, without being rude or obnoxious?
Perhaps you turned it around and got their heads straight? Maybe even got them to PAY you eventually?? Or maybe you just told them to take a hike.
Please share...
Shiraz
P.S. If I get one more subscriber that tells me to "do myself a favor and click on their business opportunity link", hopefully I wont lose it ;-)

Shiraz I hear ya... I used to have that problem...
To resolve it... "Take a hike!!!!"
If they don't want to take the helpful things that you are providing... By the way for those who are reading this... I know Shiraz personally!
Tell them to beat it!
Just my 2 cents!

Shiraz,
I understand your fustration, It's kind of like a reverse "SPAM" tactic. I know when I talk to people .. Most are already in their "OWN" program zone. I never expect them
to even care about my program. I can help them and show them but that's it? It's
just like when you place an ad on "Craig's or Other Classified sites" and they
hit you with their damn program! That is the biggest turn off and I usually reply
back with, please do not or respond to my ad with yours! It's reverse spam and I take
what I am doing seriously. Basically tell them the same. That you are willing to
show them what you do but not join their business as you are just here in MS
for the mentoring .. NOT to be reversed "Spammed" with their opportunity..
I had a lot of people do this to me from "Direct Matches" .. they filled out
my optin form and then spammed me to death with this.. I must of had zillions.
I am not kidding.. ugh..
I understand but it happens quite a bit no matter what you do .. :S

Hallelujah my brotha. You should see Carl the Cop's inbox, and he's not even a real person. Ooops... was I supposed to tell?
Anyway, Carl has about as much of a chance of joining as I do when a "hey, look at my deal" email comes in.
I don't care if it's a quadruple hybrid 2-up uni-level 30 level matrix with 800% fast start bonuses... or if the product helps you levitate and predict future events... I'm hitting that delete button quicker than Carl can draw his baton.
And don't even get me started on the MySpace MLM spam!

Re:People STILL Don't Get It...!
Hi Shiraz,
I am used to talk to other networkers - I have actually sponsored two main reps for AMWAY Europe branch and it happend as follows:
They were in my martial arts school when I open my bag and they saw one of my products - they tried it and then they talked to my about "their business" and if I want to try it.
That time in 2003 I was not as eperienced, so I let them to do their thing - at the end I did not like the numbers for the work I was supposed to do and I told them so -- within 2 weeks they joind my team. Was kind of great confidence booster because they were responsible for the growth of Amway in Europe - from them my business growth was fenomenal.
I am pitch all the time - I moved to a new town here in NY and was pithced by this bar owner to see their presentation: Again I did not want to be rude so I meet him in his house.
He had his sponsor there and he started doing his thing. At the end he said to me: "So do you want to sign in the application?"
I asked him back what for? And he told me to make great income working from home. On that I responded: " John, I will be honest with you. You were sweating, talking about this great money opportunity and you forgot to ask me what did I like the most about your opportunity presentation. In which case I would tell you that I really did not like how much you have to work for very little money and for that I would be very stupid if I leave my prosperous organization and work 10 times harder that I do now."
He got red in his face, steam coming out of his ears - and he did not know what to tell me.
So I just added: "When you start feeling that you work hard for your money, just give me call, I will be in a position to help you out."
With that I congratulate him for his "great opportunity presentation" and left home.
It's fun for me now.
But that was when I got approached in person in offline world.
And how do I do it on here with MS people?
If I do not have time I just don't respond. If the person asked me nicely and I look at the profile and looks ok with me, I just shoot them back quick thanks for keeping me in their mind, but because I get many many many benefits and success with my business - I can not and do not want to participate in your opportunity. Hope you will understand. Sign Brett.
So I guess when someone from MS tries to recruit you - just say whatever and don't take it seriously - have fun.
Hope it helps,
Brett

Re:People STILL Don't Get It...!
Tim, as always ---> lmao.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. It's easy to just delete and not even worry about it. When it comes to spam, I'm pretty level headed and don't care at all. It gets deleted quickly.
However, some of these clueless business owners are getting clever. They'll respond to my welcome email once they subscribe to start up a conversation with me...
"Hey Shiraz! Thanks for that email. I really look forward to your 10 day free training. By the way, tell me a little more about your business??"
After I respond, they'll hit me back with "Oh I've heard of that. But Shiraz, YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON THIS SUPER FLY HOME BUSINESS OPP OF MINE THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO PULL A $1,000 NOTE OUT OF YOUR BUTT EVERY MORNING".
I have to kindly respond to them and say "I'm not interested, go back and read Magnetic Sponsoring to figure out why."
But here's something else I learned that I found interesting...
A few times, I've responded back with this question: "So tell me, how are you generating your leads for your XX Business?" What's funny is that I have yet to get a response from any one of them.
Shocking? I don't think so ;-)

Re:People STILL Don't Get It...!
I got into the chat room here the other day to get a feel for it and have just watched it a couple of times on the front page. Just tonight I was thinking this same thing, they just don't get it, do they?
I wonder if there's any way to keep that clean?

Re:People STILL Don't Get It...!
Wait a minute, I'm a bit confused by all of this.
Maybe I'm one of the ones who don't get it.
I have an opportunity, and I'd like as many ambitious
and productive people as possible to join me. Not only
because it will help me make a living, but because it will
help them. They will benefit from my product, and make money
while doing so.
You have an opportunity too, that you believe in just as
firmly. You have a right to tell people about your opp, and
invite them to join you. That's your business, and if you didn't,
you'd never get to square one with it.
But if I tell you about mine, that would be pitching. Of course
there are places where it's appropriate to mention my opp, and
places where it's not, but I'm confused as to why, if someone is
willing to sign up to your newsletter and read the first few editions,
to see what you are about, it would be out of place to ask you to do
the same for them.
I'm not trying to be contrary. You see I've lived in Japan for
years, and am getting a little out of touch with the American
culture. I'm not really sure why everyone is so afraid of someone
approaching them about a product or idea they may have. It's not hard to
say no, or hit the delete button. Could someone enlighten me?

Re:People STILL Don't Get It...!
Hey Shiraz, it sounds like you finally met Uncle Bob's extended family members ;)
I went through this a few years ago and responded to many of the emails with the same feelings you've expressed.
The best thing to do is just ignore them... These are the opportunity seekers that tarnish our industry who are driven soley by personal greed and who have so little value and so few skills, that all they know how to do is spam people.
You probably wouldn't want to sponsor a tool like that anyway even if they were interested in your business right?
Mike
P.S. And I'd like to thank you along with our other admins and the 99% of our community members who've made this site so great. I think we've done an incredible job of keeping the site focused on personal growth and relationships, and free of opportunity spam.
It hasn't been 100% perfect, but considering the industry we're in, I've been extremely happy with the results!
