Being the BEST

Postby Jeanette Toy on Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:53 am

Ok, here's my question. From what I have gotten so far from reading posts and tutorials and such is that to actually succeed in this business, you have to be the best, and promote yourself as a leader, show your downline how to succeed with your own techniques, etc. etc. etc. Well, here is the thing, I have been with Xocai (MXIcorp) since Feb. of this year. I highly recommend and love the product, the company, what it stands for and the founders of it, but I have NO downline to become an expert to! How are you suppose to "show your skills" and have other ppl sign with you, if you have no downline to speak of? I've tried the "warm market" approach, and I am just not comfortable trying to get my friends and family into a business that they neither want nor want to learn about!
I have many more questions, and I am sure that some training manual for a mere 9 hundred bones would answer them, but I do not have that kind of $$ to spend..... what would be my best course of action?
thanks for any advice/help

Jeannette. You are probably being swamped with personal emails by now with everyone offering to help you. I have tapped into a training that is second to none. It will even help you with your warm and local market. If you are interested send me a personal message and I'll send you a link. It's a well rounded training that I've never seen before. Off and online and it works, it's simple and anyone can do it.

Jeanette,

What you are experiencing is what everyone is experiencing...Information overload!

How do you break through the clutter and find out what actually works?

Some people say provided great value, but they are not making any money.

Some people say learn internet marketing, yet they aren't making any money.

Some people say be coachable and trainable yet aren't making a dime...

So where is the truth? Go to the basics: Sponsoring and selling products. Don't forget it. Don't make it harder than it is.

Here is HOW TO BUILD YOUR DOWNLINE:

1. Generate Leads (there is literally 2,000 different ways to do this)
2. Follow up with them to walk through a qualification process (email and phone)
3. Collect a decision
4. Do it again and again.

Quit buying the latest great courses, quit listening to everyone, and just work.

Figure out how to generate leads: It's easy!

Follow up with them: Can be challenging at first but you will get it.

Collect a decision: Equally as simple as the other steps.

I agree with the other posts. It's time to take ACTION now. Start utilizing several ways of marketing to start generating leads. While you get that going, the fastest way to get some people to say YES to looking @ your opportunity is to call some leads that you buy from a lead company. (Now you will get a lot of people saying: oh no she didn't) because I just recommended for you to cold call leads. I'm not saying for you to do this 4ever, I'm saying while you wait for your leads to start coming in from your marketing efforts you can do this, this way you are in action mode and are not just sitting there dormant. And if you decided to buy some leads I recommend you spend very little, like $30 for 600 aged leads. That will keep you busy for a long time while your own-generated leads start coming in. If you have ANY questions don't hesitate to send me a private message ;-)

Hi Jeanette,
I totally get where you're coming from.
I spent the last six years doing it the old school way.
In fact we created a $2k a month income in 90 days doing it "old school."

I've now been in the internet arena as a web master and graphic designer for over 16 years, but learning the "new school" methodologies was and still is a trip to me. There is SO much information floating around on the internet and seems like 2-3 new "goo-roos" pop up every day with the world's most awsomest program every created in the history of awsomest goo-roo programs... ;)

But here is what I have found while attempting to tune out all the jibberish...

STEP #1
What it really boils down to is learning the "how tos." ie, how to use twitter, myspace, facebook, etc., how to create a landing page, how to setup an autoresponder campaign, get some basic copywriting skills under your belt and start writing articles, etc., etc., etc. Everything you've already heard.

Let me clarify a little however. QUICKLY, and I mean like speedy Gonzales fast, sort through what is available with all of those techniques and strategies and pick 3-4 max that you are confident you will be able to do on a daily basis without a huge struggle. Of course you may have some level of a learning curve in either that you choose, but keep it simple, 3-4 max that you feel you could really be a "rock star" in.

Now here's the thing...

I think a lot of people just getting started with the "new school" stuff, because of information overload, a lack of Steps 1,2,3 training, and other factors, that they wind up spinning their wheels being "busy." And here's another factor I've noticed. There is so much out there that has created an aura of "taboo" around "selling" that these same people wind up wasting time writing or interacting in such a passive manner, that they never make any money, but have put all of this perceived "effort" into their business.

Well I liken all of that to milking a cow without a bucket. Doesn't really matter how polished your technique, how gentle your approach, or how aggressive your pump... without a bucket, you just have wasted milk.

My point is this...

STEP #2
You Have To Ask For The Sale At Some Point!
You have to get the bucket out and start "expecting" to fill that thing to the brim and have another bucket on standby to collect even more.

Now everyone's bucket may look different, which is why I recommend finding 3-4 strategies that you feel really confident you can do, and put those suckers to use. Like in a massive way. Ginormous. Huge. Every day. Non stop.

Your bucket may be a conversation on a forum.
Your bucket may be a landing page.
Your bucket may be a video.
Your bucket may be an article.

*** What ever you choose, at some point you flat out MUST make your pitch and ASK for the sale.

This is one of the most valuable lessons I've ever learned about sales.
And it's the one most people miss, one that I see perpetuated in the "social media" smoke and mirrors training floating around the web and a major reason why most people fail in this industry.

And YES, we're in sales. Don't ever forget that.
If you don't make any sales, you don't make any money.
Anyone that tries to convince you otherwise is probably posing as a "goo-roo" and still broke too.
So never ever ever be afraid to ask for the sale. Make it a habit.
Think about it, if you never close the deal, how do expect to drink the milk?

Now of course there is a level of finesse that needs to be learned, which is where the true value in all of the training lies. Lot's of practice and lot's of refining of your approach. But most of all, practicing how to ask for the sale.

One last thing...
Don't rule out "old school."
Yes I said it. Old school is still very effective.
Why would any rational person dismiss the opportunity you may come across to sponsor a new member from a conversation in the grocery store? Or in passing at the post office. Seriously, have all of those buckets prepared and ready to collect milk, and get some kick ass business cards that point people back to all of your "online / new school" marketing funnels.

This is still a major part of our business model; to the tune of 8-10+ people a week.
So don't forget offline marketing. Combining the two (online+offline) and asking for the sale, I think you'll start to see things turn around for you in a big way.

Be authentic and have fun!
Peace out.
~ Richard

I agree with Richard Bravo post that you should definitely combine offline and online marketing. Personal Contact Marketing is still viable and a good way to attract business partners. If you master 3-4 marketing strategies on a consistent and persistent basis you will be able build your business. Also the suggestion that you purchased lead right now until your marketing strategies start providing you with consistent leads is very good. I see from these recommendations that BN has some excellent members associated with it.

You have to build trust and relationships otherwise no one is going to join in your venture. I like what Richard was saying about using some of the old school with all this new stuff. Its hard to sort it all out and it takes time and self discipline and hard work. Don't fall for all the automatically generated software that is supposed to save you work. Its the human element that counts the most.
