Hi all, I want to create an about me page and I would really appreciate some advice here.
I do have my own unused .com Domain name (under my own name) so should I somehow utilize that or should I use a Wordpress site (where again I do have an account using my own name), but that is also unused at the moment..... it is actually a wordpress 'blog site' are they all the same?
If anyone has their own site already created which they might be pleased with I should very much like to see it and maybe kinda use it to inspire me (or use it as a template) thanks in advance.....
anyway any comments or tips would be most appreciated, regards Nemo.

Re: Creating an 'about me' page..
Hi Nemo,
Here's my current about page:
Meet Richard Bravo
It runs on the Wordpress platform.
I've outgrown the theme I'm using so it's all being updated.
But you might get an idea or two by how the site is laid out.
The new version is going to have more personal photos and more "user friendly" color scheme.
For your "about me" page, especially on your personal website, my preference is to talk about everything you do. If you plan to use the site to target a specific venture/audience then be more specific in your about page to talk about your involvement, history, expertise, etc. in that field and market segment.
So as an example, RichardBravo.com, is my personal website, which I'm using as a journal of sorts under the tag line "Richard Bravo ... the Life of An Entrepreneur." As you might guess, using that description leaves it wide open to blog about anything I want. It's my life as an entrepreneur and everything that comes along with it. So I can blog about a cool productivity tool I found, a new website, an affiliate product review, marketing tips, camera reviews for info product creation, the best forums to be a member of, or a great place to eat lunch. The sky is the limit.
On the other hand, you may want to be more specific. Let's say you want to target new mlm business builders. You may want to give an account of your own journey and talk about all the tools, resources and strategies that you are testing and what works for you.
So you would craft your "about" page to reflect that. Talk about what your site is about by using yourself as the center of focus.
Get the picture?
Also, if you write your page well, you just might get a double indented listing on Google such as you see here: Google Search: Richard Bravo
That's when Google gives you a double position in the natural search results for a keyword, with the second listing being indented on the page directly under the first listing. This is a good this as far as SEO is concerned.
That's my advice. Definitely get other people's input here in the forum. Go online and look around. Find the sites you really like and see what they are doing.
Cheers!
~ Richard

Re: Creating an 'about me' page..
I have 1000s..
this is my personal site.. simonhedley.com
but equally you'll find about me at webtyrant.com
The real mistake. which I read in your comments is your coming from .. you out..
but it's fixed easily..
1) who is your customer.
2) what do they want / need to know
3) what do you intend for them to do..
Personally.. if's just for now..
put up a drupal site.. or wordpress site on your name.com - just as holding for now.
and use it separately as part of your strategic web plan...

Re: Creating an 'about me' page..
Hi Nemo,
I have just recently built a wordpress blog emma.j's journey at http://emmajoconnor.wordpress.com Like Richard I have made it about my Journey with the 2 themes being Travel and Business. This also leaves the Sky as the limit for topics and postings.
I am new to blogging, and the very BEST help for me was http://Mikeslife.org (this is not an affiliate program)
He is a professional blogger (ie makes money form blogging) and his site is about how to blog for beginners. He provides advice on how to create "YOUR BRAND", setting up your objectives, finding affiliate programs and heaps more.
If you subscribe (FREE) he gives you an ebook about how to blog!
Good luck to you
Emma

Re: Creating an 'about me' page..
Remember Nemo that there is a difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org
Wordpress.com is a free hosted site as in yoursitename.wordpress.com and
wordpress.org is your own site and self hosted.
Download wordpress from wordpress.org and host your own site at your pre ordered domain. Then you can create all the pages you want and do what ever you need to do.
