Hey,
It's not as simple as that. There's trade offs with both.
Any comprehensive marketing strategy would use both. The
one thing you have to remember about video is that it
takes time for people to watch your video and then type
in the URL you give to them to arrive at your website.
And if your video isn't compelling, then you've wasted
your time. People will stop watching the video and leave.
Google Adwords immediately sends people to your site and
if your landing page offers what they are looking for,
then half the battle is already done.
But you are right. If your video is compelling, then
the visitor already comes to your site pre-sold and
chances of a purchase goes up.
By far, the most consistent and stable form of traffic
I use is Adwords. Can it be pricey? Yes, but that's
why it's important to have a front-end. Remember, the
point is not to make money on the 1st time sale, it is
to create a lasting relationship which will lead to
ongoing sales and them eventually joining your business.
And finally, YouTube takes time to rank on the top 10 on
Google even for longtail keyterms. I would suggest trying
other lesser known video sites, since Google seems to rank
their videos within hours, not weeks.
Cheers,
Ferny

Ferny,
Google adwords is pricy. Is there any other ppc you suggest?
Also what SEO companies do you suggest? Have you heard of Moguling for social media blogs that create traffic?
You truly are an expert and I value your advice.

Re:Youtube Videos vs. Google Adwords
Hi Nikki,
PPC is pricey, but works well if you bid on the right keywords.
The key is to bid on keywords which aren't obvious, but get
a decent chunk of traffic.
You can go to http://www.seduceadwords.com, to learn more
about using Adwords effectively. We also recommend a
resource which hss helped us immensely in doing well with
Adwords without breaking the bank.
Also, I'll be revealing my one simple technique, which I use to
get $0.05 clicks on my newsletter. I gotta prepare
the write up of the teaching, then I'll broadcast it to my list.
But you asked about SEO companies. I personally don't use
SEO companies. I haven't heard of Moguling, so I can't offer
any reviews.
What I do recommend if you are concerned about price is to
study the video I made available on SEO at:
http://attractionmarketingformula.com/silos
That's basically everything I do to SEO my site. If you want
to use Social Media for marketing and get search results,
I suggest you use Squidoo.com to post articles and link
back to your website. I hear Hubpages.com will also
bring you tons of exposure.
Good Luck!

Re:Youtube Videos vs. Google Adwords
Another thing with videos is that you have to
should post on lesser known video sites.
YouTube takes a while to rank on Google, since
the site is so massive. Google can't index
the videos fast enough.
With other video sites, I've gotten top 10
video rankings for competitive keywords
within 4 hours.
But make sure your video is good and viral
or else it might get you some visits, but
the clip won't be spread by others.

Re:Youtube Videos vs. Google Adwords
Fernando's making a very important point that is any free methods you use to advertise will generally be much more competitive, much harder to get results with, and require a certain level of expertise and knowledge that will be hard to obtain without having had some earlier results from easier advertising methods.
I call PPC the lazy way to get leads because it really is easy once you set it. you simply leave it running and maintain it for a few minutes a day.
PPC pricey? Why is there this myth that PPC is so bad? It's not expensive even for someone on a tight budget as long as your marketing is airtight.
My first marketing efforts with PPC i "wasted" $300 getting a whole lot of leads. Why do i say it was wasted? Because I didn't turn them into sales, i didn't have a proven marketing system to put my leads through and to sell them SOMETHING quickly.
On the other hand, when I later realised the importance of starting with Magnetic Sponsoring I started with JUST $50. It took me less than a week to get that money back in sales that were done for me by Mike's brilliant system.
Either way, you choose to go with PPC or free advertising it's your choice. There is a trade off you have to be willing to sacrifice either way. You can accept that you will pay a bit of money up front (your choice how much you can afford even if $10 a month). Or you can accept that you will have to put up some really good content very consistently.
I can say I have started from the very bottom in BOTH cases and proven this. I'm speaking from experience here.
If you hope to get results from advertising using free methods such as Web 2.0, article marketing, and press releases you need to have a thorough understanding of how Search Engines works so that you can optimise your efforts to bring you results quickly. You also must become very good at writing headlines and copy. If you use video, you must become a master of creating entertaining effective videos that compel people.
My videos are always educational. I pack a lot of good useful content into my videos and then let them cut off at an important point where I then tell them to get the rest they need to opt in at my site. This gets the optins I need to capture my prospects and market to them.
You decide which is more realistic for you to get results quicker with.
By the way, in an earlier post you mentioned that I don't know what it's like to have no money and to need to move your business forward. I started as a student living in a foreign country. I gave up my ONLY source of income, my scholarship, to create pressure on myself to build a big business or completely destroy any chance of survival in a foreign country where I had no family, no backup, and no support of any kind.
There were times when I gave up the privilege of eating to buy a course, pay for advertising or whatever...and i gave up and till this day still give up the right to SLEEPING to make that happen.
The attitude of a winner is to look for reasons to succeed, not to look for justification to avoid action. If you have no income coming in to your bank account, then i suggest you invest your money and time wisely. Paying the bills won't put any more money in your pocket...nor will stressing about having no money.
If you really want this, i suggest you buckle down, pay your dues and find a way to survive in the hope of a better lifestyle sooner rather than later. No one who made it EVER did it with a silver spoon in their mouth.

Google does cost more up front but I find it is more cost-effective than Yahoo, Microsoft adCenter, and Ask. The smaller PPC's, e.g., GoClick, ABCSearch, Enhance sometimes have more problems with click fraud and it takes a lot longer to get traffic.
In addition to doing video (something I'm learning how to do), I'd invest in a good Google Adwords course. My top recommendations:
1) Ferny's course--or at least get on his mailing list
2) Adwords for Dummies - Perry Marshall interviewed the author this week (shows what a cool dude Perry is that he interviews and promotes one of his prime competitors in the Adwords book market).
3) Perry Marshall's free Adwords course -

Re:Youtube Videos vs. Google Adwords
This is where we get into the stuff
Mike's gonna tell me I should be charging for...
Good Non-Google PPC Places:
*Amazon.com
*MSN.com
*Yahoo! Search Marketing
Also, you can use the Google CPM network to
target Adsense on specific websites.
The first 3 listed above are really forgiving
when it comes to organizing your campaigns and
are super cheap.
Cheers,
Ferny

Re:Youtube Videos vs. Google Adwords
Hi Bruce,
In getting into your quote about videos I'm pretty much in the learning process also. But what a great tool to use as far as search engine optimization goes. I've exclusively done pay for click in the past and not going to tell you what my advertising budget was. Trying to minimize ad cost on a $40.00 product was very difficult to say the least not to mention bidding for keywords to try to get a good spot.Ive been using a video uploading service for my business doing videos on You Tube and been getting ranked high for certain keywords on google. If you do this properly you'll definetly see an increase in traffic to your site. I'm not saying its going to quarantee sales but it will put you in a position to gather leads on your capture page. What is great is your ad tends to stick on the generic searches for a long time giving you that exposure for people to see you. Can't beat free traffic thats for sure!!!!
