Global Domains International (GDI)

Postby Kerri Tan on Wed Oct 17, 2007 2:03 pm

I would like to start a training forum for GDI.
Having been with GDI for a while, me and my biz partner Melissa have developed some useful video tutorials on using the GDI site builder for webpage creation. We are fairly active in the GDI forum, just search for our username DPro in talk.ws

Anyone who is looking for MLM / internet promotion helps, autoresponder setup as well as technical advises on hosting and web design, feel free to post here.

Not sure if I can post any link here, but if you are looking for video tutorials on GDI, please reply here, I will post my youtube link.

Hi Camellia,

You were asking about how I put the link to the GDI movie in my profile. Are you referring to the "about me" page?

Highlight the text that you want to link to(eg. GDI), then click on the icon on the menu that looks like a chain, see the image attached. Image
A pop up box will appear, key in the field "Link URL".

The [ url = ] code is only good for forum posts and signature. :)

I realize we shouldn't be posting on company specific discussions if we're not part of that company, but don't worry i'm not spreading negativity.

I actually have a few questions to ask, because i was only in GDI for the free week to try it out. unfortunately in that week nobody helped answer my questions and I therefore quitted before they started charging me.

the little bit of research I did into the domain and web hosting package might be lacking, but from what I gathered the domain is the only real good thing about it. please help me if i'm wrong...

concerning the hosting, from what I gathered, there wasn't a lot of options. this may seem too technical for most, but as a tech junkie I need these questions answered to decide whether the hosting service is a good fit for me.

Does the GDI domain and hosting service support:

1) php scripting
2) java scripting/DHTML
3) flash/Shockwave
4) SQL databases
5) Custom cronjobs
6) blogging (preferably wordpress)
7) Perl 5
8) Python
9) real audio & video support
10) macromedia shockwave
11) midi file support

from the bit of research I did, the answer was "no" to most of these.

the reason i wanted these answered is because in reselling the domain and hosting service as a GDI distributor, i wanted to make sure the service was at least on par with industry standards. my finding was that there are competing services who offer better hosting packages with better prices.

like i said, i don't know much about the product GDI sells, and if someone could correct me if i'm mistaken, i'm actually very much interested in this opportunity! really. so please let me know.

i can be emailed at primax@vodamail.co.za for those who wish to contact me directly.

Hello!

I am in GDI.

The center of business is the marketing of ".ws" domains (and now all other domain names). The price is very affordable and what makes the difference: is an "MLM business". I do not know other MLM businesses of domain names.

The hosting is a secondary product, a tool ...

And yes, it's true, the hosting is very basic. One nice point is that it is very fast, 100% uptime 24/7.

... It would be very good if GDI improved to meet the standards of the market.

Greetings!

Hi primax,
I agree that GDI hosting is pretty basic and you are right that it does not have the capability to support server side scripts you listed above. GDI's main product is domain names plus an MLM opportunity . They have recently expanded their domain registration service to include .com / .net and other tlds besides .ws. This means that there is a possibility for GDI to increase their hosting features as well.

There are many good hosts around that offer all that you need for a minimal cost or even free, however they don't have the compensation structure like GDI. On top of that, GDI has also put in place a reasonably effective lead capture and marketing system which you won't find in other hosting companies that offer simple multi-tiered affiliate commissions. Kindly also note that GDI's target clients are everyday people with little web host knowledge who are looking for basic internet presence & emailing solution, not webmasters.

So I think we can't really compare GDI's hosting package with other hosting companies. For example we don't compare Godaddy with Hostgator. Although both companies offer hosting solutions but Godaddy's focus is primarily on domain management, so it's hosting package is far less attractive then what Hostgator has to offer.

I hope this post answers your question. GDI is a great opportunity especially for internet marketers. With your tech background, you can easily be a leader in this GDI opportunity. Many who join are lost as to how to make better use of their domain names. Imagine how much they would love to learn from a knowledgeable upline like yourself. :)

Kerri

P.S: I have compiled a list of good & free hosts offering most of the features that you listed. You can transfer your GDI domain name to them. Drop me a message and I will send you the free hosts list.

I'm switching the discussion of GDI over to personal messaging because I don't wish to break the forum rules.

Thanks for replying to my message kerry, I will stay in touch with you. I'm really interested in GDI, i just have a few issues that will be better dealt with through email or personal messaging.
