Hi Julie,
First off, I want to compliment you for your honesty. Asking for advise is the first step toward becoming that millionaire you mentioned. I, too, am new on this site, but I have found loads of excellent information and support here. Stay tuned. Don't be side-tracked by your young age and don't worry that people will hold that against you. As long as you have something to add to their life, go for it. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you again.

What a great and honest post.

I think that if you have the right leadership and are taught how to connect with the true "warm market", not family and friends, you will go far.

I have been lucky enough to find a great teacher and mentor to guide me on how to connect with the right people about my business.

My only advise to you is to ask yourself "does this feel right", with whatever approach you are taking in promoting your business so that you can get the right people signed up with you.

Wishing you all the success you deserve,

Again thanks a lot everybody... I actually did not expect all of this =)

This site has actually turned my whole world around. My belief in the industry as just went through the rooof! I can't wait for the day when I turn into one of you successful network marketers you are today. I will have the whole betternetworker.com community to thank for all of it! =)

Please feel free to drop me a personal message if you'd like to chat some more. (also I apologize for my english and slang talk. I'm still transitioning from my kidish ways.) ... hopefully all these sacrifices will pay off.

Hi Julia, welcome to BN.

You are right on track. Nobody can touch you as long as you stay close to your community. Sometimes the MLM you're with would not provide that support so you should think of aligning with a training & operational system because these are the guys who have been there done that and staying close to them is very very helpful - just to "prove everybody wrong" / survive :)

Hi Julie YES! YES! YES!
Black Belt Recruiting is a very indepth course on how to talk to prospects, build your list and handle any conversation while building your business team. I just finished it and am about to start it again. (I ran out people on my list two months ago just when I got promoted)
Are you creative? - Traffic Formula walks you through every step of putting your business (YOU As a LEADER) online. Website, capture pages, blogs, technical support for each step....its fun! (Bring your business online!)
Magnetic Sponsoring will do what this site is doing only like a real education. Mike teachers us about the industry, the psychology of the industry and how to become successful as a leader in it.
Building on a Budget is a terrific course to start on. It was my first one a month ago. I now am making Youtube videos and writing capture pages.
Copy Writers Course is AWESOME. They give you all the strategies, catchy phrases, words and advice you need to stand out from the others in your marketing..

The bottom line is that if you have chosen this work as your profession or career, have some integrity in that choice because it is just that! It starts out as lemonaide stands and grows into some awesome products and services to offer to the world!

My best advice is to learn all you can learn online for free but if you have moeny take Mike's Courses. Unlike you, I am not educating myself secretly but I do it around my full time job and being a single MOM.
You can accomplish anything you want to badly enough and you set your mind to!
All the best in getting started. Keep asking questions!
Monica PS My friend said last night that I have changed so much in the last few months. More confident, more outspoken and happy!!!!!Thanks to being in this profession!

Hey Julia!

Congratulations on taking the first step in achieving whatever it is you want to do in life. I fully understand the "walls" you're running into with the feeling that people won't take you seriously because of your age. I started in this industry at 17, after owning a traditional business for a year as well. I too had this notion that people wouldn't take me seriously because of my age and I limited myself a lot because of that. Magnetic Sponsoring did in fact change a lot of what my perception was of this industry, but it is not the "end all be all" to your problems, which I see that you understand already and that's great! You already seem to have a mindset that you can build yourself from and truly grow with.

What I began to really understand after picking up MS and really working on developing myself(both marketing myself and just personal development in general) was the importance of emulating others who were at the level of where I wanted to be. Just as an example of my personal experience, I never had much success at all in this industry until about a year ago. At that point, the true turning point in my life was when I began surrounding myself with people that were the type of people I wanted to be in every aspect. A person that became a close friend of mine and who was really my role model more or less was actually my financial adviser at the time. He was 29 years old, Vice Pres. of investments for one of the largest banks in the U.S. and had the number 1 investment team out of the top 8 banks in the country. At 29 he was salaried just over $500k a year, plus was making much more through his own investments etc.

I picked his brain of all knowledge I could, and also became friends with his other clients and business associates. I learned how a successful person(or should I say the type of successful person I wanted to be) looked, spoke, prioritized their daily tasks, and everything I could.

One of the big things I learned that really knocked the idea of "being too young" right out of my head was this: When dealing with any form of business, whether it is realty, financial services, insurance, MLM, etc....a very important factor in how people think of you is your look. A very successful realtor who later became a friend of mine once told me "Ryan, when dealing with business, rather than dress your age, you need to dress your wage." Meaning, when you're hanging out with your friends, going to a concert, or the movies, sure throw on your Hurley shirt and DC shoes and have fun...but when you're working and doing anything with business, you need to project yourself as serious, and in MLM, you need to project yourself just one step above what the person you are talking to feels they are at.

Keep in mind, this is just my personal experienced and belief that I have adopted because of the path I've taken. There are tons of different stories and beliefs out there that will probably even contradict mine in some ways.

Julia, I hope this helps as we are both close to the same age, and absolutely traveling down the same path. You'll find a lot of great info here and very rarely will you find anything that is not at least "good" advice because the guys here that moderate this site are great guys and know exactly what they are talking about.

Feel free to shoot me a PM at anytime. I sent you a friend request as well.

Talk to you soon. Make it a powerful day.

Hi Julie,
I too wish I would have found the possibility of financial freedom and not been afraid to try when I was your age. While I didn't take your path I did know I wanted to be entreprenuerial so most of my career I worked for startups. When I made the decision to begin working through networking I was ready.

Now to your question. I too did the 7 day boot camp and there was some fantastic information but I made the decision not to pay for any additional training because I am lucky enough to have a fantastic upline and just recently began working one on one with Isaac McLemore (he was the master distributor that took Metabolife to their huge success). We are working with him for 90 days to create financial success. I would love to work with you too.

Our game plan is to work one on one with people helping them to achieve success in 90 days. I am 100% committed to staying in touch daily with my team and together helping us all become a success. With your fantastically positive attitude and your obvious drive you would be a great addition to our team.

I won't promise you that I am some kind of guru or even know more than everyone else cbeause I don't. But I do know how to connect with the right people who are willing to answer questions and help you without asking you to spend hundreds of dollars in the mean time.

Just contact me at colleen.rocha34@gmail and lets talk. I want to see you succeed and prove everyone wrong. Heck I want to succeed and prove everyone wrong. Let's do it together...

Hi Julia! You already started attracting people and you don't even know it. You have the talent and the courage to do it and that is the first step. Look how many people answered to your post and yes people around the world and is all because of the internet.
Keep reading MS it will help you a lot! But even though you can read books and books and books, nothing will change your life unless you have a dream and a goal. So define your dreams because that's going to be the engine to achieve anything in your life.
You are very young and that's great because you have a lot of time to learn and succeed. The only advise I can give you is: Don't be afraid and go for it! The most successful people in life have failed thousands of times before they had success. In order to have success in life....you most fail! But don't take failure as a bad thing, failure is an experience, failure is your vehicle to achieve success.
In my experience what I've learned is that when you decide to join a MLM company, you need to make sure of five things:
1) SOLID Company (Check the company's background) Make sure it have at least 5 years in the industry and is ranked one of the top.
2) First Class Products. And if they are exclusive even better. Also make sure that the product does what they said it does.
3) Compensation Plan. Don't be fooled by comp plans that pay a lot at the start but then they stop to pay when you achieve certain positions. You want residual income!!! And infinity pay...
4) And Education System! The network marketing industry is a profession like any other, so you have to study to achieve success. You can have a PHD in any profession and that won't make you successful in MLM. Make sure that your company have a system where you can study or a place to meet everyone and study about your biz. That's the number one reason why people give up in MLM, they don't know what to do and they get frustrated and quit.
5) Write your dreams and read them every day. Be very clear on what you really want in life! That will keep you on the right track.

I wish you the best Julia and if you need any more advise, write me an email, I'm here for you, no strings attached.

God Bless,
Apy

Hi Julie,
Wow you've gotten some great advice here. Some was helpful to myself as well. I'm getting ready to add affiliates to my site through Commision Junction. They have alot of well known markets, and seems fairly easy to partisipate. Go to their site, or bring up whoever you want to bring on board whether it be Amazon, Target or E-bay and go to affiliates. I'm looking for a place to advertise my site, so you have any help with that? Gloria
