I’m here to tell you that you can succeed tremendously in your MLM or home based business even if your up line is inactive or does not sufficiently support you. Your financial goals are attainable so do not give up. Normally, we all find mentors to help us be the best we can be in the industry in which we work. As a trial lawyer for many years, I looked to several partners in our litigation department who had tried high profile cases for Fortune 100 companies and were known for their incredible advocacy skills. I learned from the best and by virtue of such became a very good trial lawyer myself. But, in my home based MLM I lacked such support and mentoring.

Here is a proven strategy to succeed in your MLM or home based business, even without proper support from above.

Start Reading

I was new to this industry and without a proper mentor. I had found a solid, legitimate MLM but had no one to teach me how to grow it, how to train my team, or how to achieve my goals. So, I turned to the many excellent books published in this field by very successful people. I decided I would learn from the best through my research and reading. I strongly suggest reading The 45 Second Presentation That Will Change Your Life By Don Failla. This book is short, to the point, and provides a simple system to built a large organization, train your team, and achieve financial independence. In fact, I like this book so much I provide a copy to each of my new team members. It’s worth the hour or two it will take you to read it. Another book I have found to be tremendous and a large part of my success both financially and in supporting my team is Your Fist Year In Network Marketing By Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell. This is a quality book where you will learn what it means to work an MLM business and what it takes to succeed in one. These two books are a few of many that will teach you how to really make it big in this industry and how you can support and train your team in a way you were not so that they can grow and prosper.

Become a Leader

The easiest way to do this is to start to arrange breakfast or lunch meetings with your local team weekly. You can designate the time and place and set a general agenda. Send e-mail reminders and then head to your meeting to throw out the topics to be covered. If you are uncomfortable or shy, there is no need to even run the meeting. Just ask peoples’ opinion of a relevant topic and then start adding value and advice. You will find you created a valuable round table discussion where people can come to share their ideas and successes as well as their frustrations. Another great way to become a leader is to set up a regular conference call with your team. Your team can consist of just you and your first referral at first and later of a much larger group. Talk weekly to maintain enthusiasm and focus on the business. It’s much easier focus on and work on your MLM or home based business if you are talking and thinking about it. Discuss chapters of the above recommended books. Discuss the product or service and how to tell people about it and what value it has.

Find a Mentor

You may not have a mentor in your up line but the odds are that you can find one somewhere in your company. I suggest getting on the training calls offered by your MLM or home based business. In a good MLM or home based business, there should be excellent training either in the form of webinars, phone calls, or videos online. Tap into these resources and get trained by the most successful people in the business. Learn what is working for them and mimic it. You’ll also find a person or two you mesh with more than others. E-mail them and ask to be added to their e-mail distribution list. Attend company trainings or seminars to become more knowledgeable about your MLM’s product or service and to get to know the leaders and top producers. Most likely, they will be happy to spend some time talking to you.

Get To Know the Company’s Executive Team

The best way to get to know the top dogs is to attend seminars, trainings, and events or presentations in your area put on by your MLM or home based business. Often, attending trainings outside of the area where the majority of the people in the MLM are concentrated will allow you to be in attendance with a smaller group of people. This may mean flying to a training in a more remote location. But, you will have the advantage of getting to know the top producers, leaders, and executive team in a more intimate setting. The executive team wants to get to know those who are passionate about their business. So, take the initiative to approach them at these trainings, introduce yourself, and ask for advice. I have seen this done many times and in almost all cases the free advice is valuable and the representative leaves with a lasting impression on the core leaders of the MLM business.

I agree with Dawn and she cover the subject very well. In the meantime, I would find a FREE system that would market my PRIMARY business. You might find someone within that group that can help you tremendously.

I would be concerned about being in a business if my upline wasn't supportive?
