Where Do You Zen?

Postby Richard Bravo on Fri Nov 20, 2009 11:10 pm

.

 OK, I am absolutely infuriated right now.
I just missed out on a potential $15,000.00 deal because of a freaking time zone miscalculation!
Have you ever had one of those days? One of those months?
I've definitely seen my share of challenges lately and this is like the toxic icing on the cake.

So here's my question ....
Where do you zen out? Where do you bliss? Where do you get your goosfraba?
What the hell do you do when you want to throw your SUV through the window?????

We all have bad days. Some times business just doesn't pan out like we thought it would.
And sometimes ... well, you just don't have the answers.
Sometimes it's hard being the one to carry the torch.
And when you get pummeled with a thunder storm, well it gets hard to keep the flame lit.

ok sorry .... I've got quite a bit of testosterone and adrenaline pulsing through my veins right now.
So this may just be a rant to forget. Maye I'll even delete before anyone gets the chance to answer (or see it)

PS:
This may not be the go to answer guy some may have seen in the past.
This isn't the polished "professional" BetterNetworker some may expect.
This is the Richard who's pissed off and looking for some community input.
So sorry if this isn't what you expected ... this shits just real life.

Hi Richard,

Let it out, roar, go have fun with your family and focus on all you have, not your perceived loss. Look, IF they really knew YOU, they wouldn't be running elsewhere so quickly. What is their problem?? Why wouldn't they work it out with you? They are the fools.

If I were to calculate all the money that's owed to me, from schemers, dreamers, liars and thieves, it would be far more than $15,000. Everyone thinks I'm such a rich and famous punk photographer. I even get crap about that, charging too much while I'm living on one meal a day, way too often. I always joke I should be skinny cos of that.

My pals tell me everything happens for a reason. I've always been a Pollyanna. Cream mag wrote that when the Ramones first came to California, they were followed "around by a 250 pound cherub named Jenny." Ouch, that was a good 75 pounds more than I weighed. But can't argue with the cherub part.

Life these days comes at us so fast and furiously that it's easy for things to fall in the crack. I am having a really hard time with the early dark hours. At 7 PM I thought it had to be at least 10 PM. Often at 2 AM I think it's got to be 11 PM. Several times a day I have to figure out what day it is. The thorn in the rose of working 24/7/365!

So relax, you are human. YOU ARE BLESSED. You have a loving family, live out in some gorgeous, beautiful country, great skills, and things are gonna get better.

Remember how many lives you have helped.

Now, figure out how to prevent this from happening again. If possible. If not, there's gonna be more $15,000 deals. That was not a fluke. Be grateful it worked out as it did. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

I wanna know how one little mistake could cost so much.

PS I will get back to you. Life is what happens while we are making other plans. I finally had to submit to the demands of the company I rep. I took my multiple page Joomla site and condensed it into a one page WordPress site. I tweaked the CSS a bit, but still a little funky. Good enough, however.

NOW for them to tell me IF I finally get their blessings. We'll see . . . but to take the same info and make one long page . . . you tell me what's the diff? Which is easier for peeps to comprehend/retain and Google to index?? I ORIGINALLY made one page. My pals told me TMI (too much info), so I broke it into small postings.

We all have our stories. But as Scarlett O'Hara said, "tomorrow is another day." Go get 'em!

Years ago an attorney told me this great saying, which I love sharing with others:
"Never try to teach a pig to sing. He's too stupid to learn and will only get mad at you for trying."

Not saying that company is pig-headed. But some peeps just don't "get" the net.

Here's to a better tomorrow, a better life!!

@Tee Crane (facebook) earlier this evening:

"We are all attached to things. Be mindful not to become overly attached to the outcome of things - being overly attached is about "need". Notice that all suffering comes from attachment and most of us are attached to 'timing'. When we are emotionally detached - we own our world...when we are emotionally attached - our world owns us. Stand in your power and dance. have an amazing weekend!!"

Tee is amazing, very balanced, but constantly studies with great teachers, coaches, etc. He is a great life coach, former art gallery owner, punk rocker, still a performer. Man of many talents, like you. Like moi (except the man part!).

Is it horrible that I had a little sigh with a slight smile after reading your post!

A few days ago I was stressing over some illusion of power and my 3 1/2 old daughter came up to my desk, blinked her bright blues and said, "I'm sorry you're frustrated." And I completely believed her. She really was sympathizing with me and was reaching out in the only way she could. Then she ran off to watch tigger and pooh.

I share this only because it's all just moments. One moment we're pissed and the next we're not...

When I'm in need of a zen escape (which tends to be often these days) I read something completely non-business related. Right now I'm on a Sue Grafton kick and I'm up to G. I also draw and paint. I love this because it's creative and I can pretend I have control over what is happening on the canvas. Some of my best marketing ideas have come to me while I'm engaged in these activities. There is something to be said about stepping away from the canvas and getting a look at the whole picture.

I bet $30,000 will be coming your way tomorrow!!!

Kudos on your post!!!

Richard.
I'm a total believer in "things happen for a reason".
Hard to believe but maybe that $15,000 was going to bring you more trouble than it would be worth. Maybe there's something better coming down the road where that $15,000 deal would have interfered.

Who knows? Just know there is something better coming your way !

So here's my question ....
Where do you zen out?

Vodka usually does it for me.....it don't solve the problem but at least you can forget about it for a while.....regards Jim T.

How about some Jamaican overproof white rum and a walk on the beach, that should clear your mind.

Richard,

That sucks dude! I had something similar happen to me a few days ago (although, my mistake only cost me 500$).

I personally went to the gym and lifted some weights (always seems to help me relieve frustration).

Hope this helps.

Chris

Exercise, exercise, exercise. That is what brings balance and clarity to my life. Each day, I map out what I am going to do and always exercise is in my plan. I am not talking about a stroll around the block, I am talking real exercise for at least 45 minutes.
