The way I see it is simple... If someone doesn't think that their content is worth $10/Mo to post on the most visited, and targeted audience in the industry, then it's probably not worth reading.
Nate, you're kidding right... "HUGE monthly fee"?? It's $10 bucks dude![]()
Again, thanks for the feedback everyone...
Mike
Thanks, Mike.
I honestly didn't know what the cost was for the membership. I didn't really care. (but I thought it was $20)
It's cool to know there will be benefits to the membership besides the badge, etc.
I've chosen Better Networker as my forum of choice for exposure. Since I don't always have copies of everything I do on all of my sites, it will be good for me to have only premium content to be associated with.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of the benefits.

Re: Should We Have Bigger Warnings
I'll definitely consider adding the forum to ABN membership status only, but it might have to wait about a month. The current forum platform we have doesn't integrate into the site well, which is why we've been having the login and cookie issues.
We'll be moving over to the Drupal 6 forum platform in the next few weeks which will provide seamless, bug-free integration with the rest of the site.

Re: Should We Have Bigger Warnings
Dean, I think you hit a hot button. I couldn't agree with you more. There are quite a few of us that have refused to blackmailed into joining the ABN club. Some of us continually add value to our posts. That should be more important than a "membership." So what difference does it make whether or not we belong to the "club" or not? VALUE is what counts!

It sounds like I might be in the minority here, but I think it might be cool to allow only paid members to post articles -- after all, if you can't afford $10 bucks a month -- you probably shouldn't be giving too much advice...

.
I think we should have bigger fights between members!
I mean I don't know about you ...
but I just can't get enough of a good pissing match between two grown men.
Seriously, who wants to read all this lame " content " anyways?

I think someone should put up bleacher seats and sell tickets...now that would be real monetization.

What it looks like to me, is that individually, we need to decide whether it is worth $10/month to post the occasional article here on BN.
Looking at the point totals, Dean of course, leads the way with over 21,000 points, with the #5 person being approx. 5,000 points behind. #10 is 10,000 points behind and #20 is 15,000 points behind.
Me? Barely a blip way back on page 3 of the list.
What that tells me is that there are relatively few who both initiate, and comment, on posts.
The vast majority of BN members are "commentators" not article writers. As a matter of fact, 1/2 of the Page 1 people haven't gained a point in the last week.
Even on Page 2, where one might expect to find quite a few of the movers and shakers, 18 of the 30 BN members (60%) neither posted an article, nor commented on an article in the past week. In my neighborhood, Page 3, only a few acquired more than 10 points.
So, what it boils down to is this: Only about 12-20 out of the 11,036 BN members are even relatively active. About 0.2%.
My guess is that not many of the 99.8% will view it a worthwhile to pay $10 a month to post an article a month (if that many), and not just a whole lot of the Top 100 will either.
Just my opinion.
BTW Dean, took a peak at what appears to be your new site (at least I haven't seen it before) and I must say, I'm impressed.
Have a GREAT day,

Yes Richard, thanks for saying that. And we wonder why we still have a ways to go for world peace. It all starts with us---the me's here and in the world. I had a man look at me like he wanted to kill me this morning on my commute----all because he wasn't happy I was going the speed limit.
