What is RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
Why RSS? Benefits and Reasons for using RSS
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like Yahoo News. Hope this helps.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your input. Now, when I subscribe to a RSS where exactly do i find the feed? Is it delivered to my in-box? I don't seem to find my feeds.
Thanks a lot,
Cleia Grubb

When you click the RSS button on my blog (say), you'll land at http://feeds2.feedburner.com/DoOnlineBusiness where it asks to "choose a reader". Lets say you pick google, it asks whether to send the feeds to the google homepage or to your google reader account.
I prefer google reader as it collates only my blog feeds from various places and I don't have to go back to the blogs everyday.
Alternatively, if you subscribe by email (the option below my RSS button) you shall receive the updates on my blog by email. Trust this helps.

Cleia, are you asking what "thing" to open up when you subscribe to an RSS feed?
I'm pretty sure you are, so.... do you have a google account?
If you don't then, it's easy enough to sign up for one, from google.com (or if you live outside the USA, whatever your google is for your country.
Then, when you subscribe to an RSS feed, select "google" (if you're asked to select something), then go here: http://www.google.com/reader/
and you will see a list of items from your RSS feed subscription. Click on one to open up a "summary" of that information item.
Hope that makes sense.

The orange RSS button should appear to the far right of your URL in your browser.
If all else fails, generally if you add /feed to a blog, it will take you straight to your RSS reader if you have set it up with Google.
