Quitting can be viewed many ways.
On the surface level quitting, especially in this industry, is taboo.
But something to consider is this ... This industry, entrepreneurship, starting your own business;
These things aren't for everyone and not everyone is cut out for it.
In fact I strongly with Donald Trump, who in an interview said
"No. Not everyone will be successful. Not everyone can be an entrepreneur."
I'm personally not one of the people who believe "anyone" can do it.
For the simple fact that I prefer to shoot straight and be 1000% honest with people.
And the fact is - this isn't for everyone. Everyone is not cut out for greatness, stardom, huge success or fame.
And not everyone is destined to be a successful entrepreneur.
I've seen many comments that "leaders or winners aren't born, they are made." And I simply disagree.
I do believe they are born ... the journey they find themselves on is one of self discovery and walking the path to find that inner leader.
The fact of the matter is, some people are here to be average. I know that may sound elitist or whatever, but it's true. Think about it. If everyone had some welling desire for greatness and pursued that vision with vigor and zeal, like we teach people to do in this industry, then ask yourself ...
Who would make your clothing?
Who would cash you out at the store?
Who would put your dry cleaning on the rack and hand you a ticket?
Who would teach your children in school? (not that teachers aren't great, don't get me wrong)
Who would drive the bus you take from home to work everyday? ( " )
Who would cook that burger you love to eat on Friday nights down town?
The point is, there are workers and there are makers.
Hunters and Gatherers. Both with equally important roles in society.
Neither is more important or deserves special treatment or anything like that.
It's just a simple aspect to life, and something I realized a long time ago as I've gone through this journey of building a network marketing business and business in general. By no means have I "arrived," but man let me tell you, once I realized and more so accepted this part of what we do, my work was a hell of lot less stressful.
Why? Because I no longer struggle with putting square pegs in round holes.
I can clearly see an apple is an apple. No matter how much I wish or want it to be a peach; it's still an apple. And accepting that makes the process sooooo much more enjoyable.
My pursuit for "business builders" is nothing like I was taught back in the day.
I realize now that these people, the true leaders and entrepreneurs are few and far between and they will cross paths with me when the time is right for both of us. Everyone else, well, they're awesome potential customers that need my products. And that's pretty much everyone on the planet.
Of course I still "prospect" and look for those golden nuggets, I'd be foolish not to. But that stigmatic cliché image of the networker running around bugging the crap out of everyone in a 3 foot radius? Uh uh - not me.
I guess my point in all of that, is some people should quit.
Seriously - enough is enough. If you've beat this thing to death year after year after year, and still you're sitting at zero, well you know, maybe it's time to cash in your chips and pursue something else.
And in my mind that's admirable ... not quitting.
Quitting portrays someone who doesn't have the balls to see it through.
But even a worthy adversary knows when they've been beaten and will resign.
There's no shame in that.
The only analogy I can think of at the moment (and no offense intended here) is if you took someone really short who just wouldn't quit training to be an olympic runner. They have the heart of a lion, the stick-to-it-iveness of a world class athlete, the determination of a Zulu warrior, but the legs and stride of a chipmunk ... I'm sorry, but as inspiring and heart felt as that story may be, the odds of them taking home a gold medal in the midst of the lanky 6+ foot tall runners of that sport is pretty slim. In fact it's less than that.
So to keep stringing someone along with false hope year after year just isn't fair in my eyes.
Some people just aren't cut out for it - plain and simple.
Who does that apply to exactly? I can't say.
That's a heart to heart only that person can have with themselves.
Anyway ...
That may not have come out exactly as I wanted, and I realize I may piss a lot of people off by saying it, but, well ... there it is.
