To Deliver Or Not To Deliver...

Postby Josh Cope on Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:30 pm

Hey everyone,
I've been split testing this recently, but haven't come to a rock-hard conclusion. So I was wondering if any of you had some input or experience you could lend...

I'm trying to decide what is the best way to deliver my FIRST boot camp video. Of course the other videos are delivered daily in an autoresponder message...

Now I know that the traditional method is like this:

capture page => sales page (email sent to person with link to 1st video)

And again, while I know this is the "accepted" way of doing it, I've always wondered if I lost customers because my capture page touts "Free Videos..." but after they opt-in, it's the sales page for my course.

So I tried this:

capture page => 1st bootcamp video at the TOP of the sales page, with message that says "after you watch this first email, make sure you check your email for further free videos! Now continue reading below..." ('below' is my sales page)

The other method I've thought about, but haven't tried, is this:

capture page => 1st bootcamp video (with "continue" button or something below it) => sales page

Overall I have a really high sales rate for my course, so I can't complain, but like anyone else I'm always looking to improve. So anybody have any thoughts?

I can provide the links to illustrate what I'm talking about if anybody wants.

Thanks so much for the help!

Josh,

I was just reading an Ezine about this yesterday. It said...and I agree...that if your capture page promises something, after the prospect signs up, then if at all possible, that's the next thing the prospect should see. So, if you say "click this link to get you free video", the link should take them to a free video. I think it's a good idea for the sales page to follow below because If they have to click another link to read the sales page they might just move to something else after they've seen the "free video" since that's what they came there for. If the sales copy is below the video, most people will scroll down, even if it's just out of curiosity and that's when the title of your sales copy catches their attention and they read further.

I hope this helps a little.

I kinda wanted to wait a second until I chimed in...but I'd probably forget. :?

Listen.

Cool idea for a Bootcamp.

...but why don't you give away the 1st video FREE and have your opt-in form underneath it...or to the top-right of the video.

This way you gain a little trust with the potential subscriber, they get a feel of what you're about and what you teach...

AND you can throw them to the sales page AFTER the opt-in...

capture page => sales letter/video

Then just give all your "bootcamp" videos/lessons in the first email. Like a little surprise gift for them to come back to.

I am just in the process of changing this so I have not yet tested this (Starts in a couple of days). But I did my first training video and then for the capture page I did a prevideo. Basically a video showing them the training that I am going to give them. I then have the first video on the top of my sales page.

Like I said, I have not had a chance to test this yet but I feel that this will convert higher for leads and sales because I would have offered a lot of value before I even show them the sales page. For me, it's about 30 minutes of training before they get into the sales copy.

But the training video on my sales page leads right into the sales copy.

I think this will work well because everything is conguent but I will keep you posted. :P

I'm not sure if this would work, but I don't see why not...

Why not have them redirected to the sales page and have a pop up video, instead of the other way around as it is usually done. Then send them the link in case they just couldn't stand the pop up and closed it too quick.

Hey everybody,
Just wanted to come back and give you the update from my test results...

First off, thanks for all those that replied. Got some great advice.

And the winner is.... capture ==> sales page (with a twist)

By "twist" I mean I set up a separate sales page just for first-time subscribers (my autoresponder "Thank-You" URL) to show a popup that says "Thanks for subscribing, your FREE video is on it's way to your inbox. In the mean time, enjoy this FREE case study!" - which is, of course, my sales page video.

Just putting that popup increased sales by roughly 14% (if I'm recalling the numbers correctly).

So Daegan was right on (as I suspected), but I thought you guys would want to know that the test results verify the results!
