Right on David.

Don't know why people are under the assumption that if you use the word numbers in relation to success that you are therefore treating people like numbers.

Completely erroneous mindset. Whoever talks to lots (big numbers) creates the income. When you talk to a few (little numbers) your income is less. Pretty darn simple basic math.

There have been some great comments made here on this topic.

I believe since "MARKETING" is a part of Network Marketing, it does come down to playing the NUMBERS and the facts are, people are the numbers we are playing/marketing to.

As others have mentioned already, you have to "EXPOSE" your opportunity to the greatest NUMBER of people as you can, as often as you can, or else you are dead in the water and thus out of business.

All great marketers, be they companies or individauls, will use any and all ethical means of marketing to get the maximum amount of exposure/numbers to his/her offer. Televison, radio, print ad, direct mail, internet, etc...

Now once you have played the numbers, and successfully gotten that exposure, and have someone reviewing your offering, it is then up to you, the marketer, to use that exposure to your favor, that's where YOU inc comes into play.

People coming from the numbers are interested in one thing, "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME"?

So, we as marketers must ask ourselves, what can we, YOU or I, our opportunity, offer someone, from the numbers, that's better than another person's offer/opportunity.

He/She who offers the greatest number of benefits or opportunity, wins.

It's all about the benefits, as percieved from the people in the numbers we generate.

Hope I haven't throughly got yall :?

When I woke up this morning my goal wasn't to speak to hundreds of people today. My goal when I woke up was to move forward enough to change one person's life this month. I never pressure myself to believe that people are numbers. Obviously, when recording my goals and results, their is always a number attached at the end of the day. That is not what this is about.

Believe me..I'm not new to the game. I realize there are some big hitters that believe that you must talk to "X" to get to "Y" but..what quality of people are you getting? really? I sold cars for quite a few years also. Believe me, the owner only cared about the numbers. The GM always wanted to know how many people did you talk to? My best days of sales was when I only talked to a few.

Put a number on someone's face and they can see right through you.

Change one person's life every month. Teach them to do the same.
That is success.

Thanks,
Rob

Great advice Rob. Change one person's life a month. That is doable for most people. It IS all about the QUALITY of the people that you talk to and present your mlm to. Some people are going to see and believe it AND DO something about it. Some people aren't. Move on.

Rob,

The problem with that notion is that YOU DON'T KNOW who is quality and who isn't.

As you know, "you never know!"

You never know who's going to do something in this business and who isn't.

I've had people who were very influential that were all geared up to "bring hundreds in" and they did NOTHING and then I had people who knew very few people who ended up building a team of hundreds.

I know that we always want to "sponsor up" but sometimes, it's the person who is down and out and mega HUNGRY that ends up being one of your best distributors.

So in the end, talk to everyone cause ya just never know.

All the best.

Rob, I would say everything in life is a numbers game. It's about geometrical progression or multiplication, especially in business.

Thanks for asking the question Rob.

There are arguments for & against MLM being a numbers game.

It depends on how each person defines their own business models- I believe numbers are important as the more people you reach with your message, the more traffic you should generate. Obviously, you need to provide something that has perceived value but the aim of MLM in this way is to drive targeted traffic to your site to eventually buy something (the end game for most of us)

Firstly, in my view it has to be a numbers game in that it is imperitive to have a number of people go through your sales funnel; you need a number of people to click through & convert into customers etc.

If you don't have specific numbers of people in your pipeline then you may as well go & get a "job" which pays you a wage (also a number).

Numbers make up the universe in every aspect, reagrdless of what you want to call it- relationships, friendships, customers or whatever, the higher the number the better.

PPC is all about numbers (cost per click, click throughs, leads etc); Your Facebook/Twitter & Better Networker connections are numbers you build to create your network/community. You write articles, blog this & that in the hope that you generate interest from as many people as possible- the higher the number of people you connect with the happier people tend to be with their campaign performance.

On the against side of this argument, I would consider the person who does absolutely no specific targeting in their marketing strategy (prospecting) as someone who is playing a numbers game- this would be like the old school sales strategy of getting in front of as many people as you can to pitch your wares because, in time, you will sell. "Each time you get a NO, you are getting that much closer to a YES" as the old school sales texts will teach.

In conclusion, this is an interesting question & one that makes me think about my own experiences in banking & corporate sales prior to entering the world of NM.

To your success,

Patrick

Yes, it is a numbers game for the expert who can communicate with the entire team. It may be down into your line that you discover the worker bee who propels your check and more importantly, yours...since you show how much you care.

The truth must be expose, the out of date lies about how to be successful in network marketing
has ran it's course.
“Make a list of everyone you know”. That list today cannot complete with the people on one
social site. To pitch a business idea to hundred of individual form a list is very time consuming
To pitch a business to hundred of people on the internet could be a mouse click away.
“Marketing is a number game” The truth be knowing marketing is not a game. Its serious
business with human being that deserve the best that one has to offer. Human being away in need of the greater truths.
Thank Rod for reminding us that we are human being and not numbers.
