I have hit a road block and I need some advice to get over it, quick!

I come from the keyword / SEO optimized internet marketing realm. My confusion is how important is it to choose a low competitive keyword for a category on my blog? Should I use generic keywords for categories and place the keywords in the content/post? Is this even relevant in the MLM/IM world?

Any input on this would help me a lot right now.

OK...keyword research!

So basically the best thing you should do is research current trends, MLM's, their leaders, products etc and try to rank for those. Obviously the goldmine is a low competitive keyword with a ton of results. Don't go for generic keywords like network marketing or MLM cause you won't rank unless you have a gazillion backlinks.

Make sure your keywords are relevant to the content. Do not spam keywords! That will get you banned. Get a healthy mix of keywords and try to please the reader and Google at the same time. If you spam keywords you might get a high ranking but you will piss the reader off. Whats the point of that?

So this may not be the correct way...but here's how I do it.
I decide on what I want to promote mlsp or my blog or both,
1st: I search the asa forum for a new company that has some potential and do my research and write a review light stuff but stress the importance of a sales funnel and targeted marketing. Creatively backlink maybe syndicate, first week (google first page) then disappears (4-5) weeks later top 3.
2nd: The second I'll dig here or wso for good topics and then some similarities between some twitter trend and write accordingly
3rd: You can use rackandwrite.com to come up with ideas.

I just started using this amazing little tool Keyword Gem based on the popular long tail keyword searched terms.

I will say that if you have your name for your blog you have absolute freedom to write about anything you want and tie it in an additional income opp. Expand beyond the MLM niche Sales Is much bigger and you can build subscribers to your lists.
