Postby Georgia Montoya on Sun Jul 05, 2009 9:35 pm

Sometimes yeah, I have alot of friends that were involved with the Quixtar model but never did anything, I think them having Amway Global Brand name again kind of brings fresh air to them again...

A lot of people distribute for their own personal use. One benefit I have found is clothes, especially if you like brand name jeans (One benefit I have discovered).

It's refreshing for me that the Amway rep in my BNI group now stands each week and announces proudly that he is with Amway Global. (He used to never mention 'Amway'). I remember back in the day when someone would hand me their business card with some generic business name on it...I knew right away it was an Amway rep. I am very happy that they are now displaying 'Amway Global' on their business cards.

I' am from Grand Rapids Michigan I' m 62 There was a time that you had to be stealth distributor But things has changed now I want everyone to know that I' am an Amway IBO. I think if you let it be known that your business will grow.

I'm finding a whole generation of people that have heard of Amway because their parents were in it. They don't seem to have the preconceived notions and rolling of the eyes that many boomers seem to have. I run into a lot of people that were in it, got one "NO" , and quit saying that it didn't work. Also a few, of what I call victims of the 60's. 70's and 80's IBO's that wouldn't leave the house until they signed you up. But these days, it my approach is casual and sincere, the response is generally friendly.

I am the exact opposite of a stealth distributor. I tell people straight up that I sell Nutrilite products or I am an Amway independent business owner, for better or worse. I've always done this, since I got started in business back in June of 2006. I can't stand what most of the motivational organizations teach about hiding the company name as long as possible and being vague all the time. I am all about honesty and openness.

I really don't understand why modern IBO's operate in this fashion. First of all, the generation that actually has a negative impression of Amway, or should I say had a negative impression, is now in their 50's or older, and I'd bet that the majority of people who IBO's prospect to are in their 20's and 30's. Secondly, don't you think with the widespread advertising campaigns, sponsorships and the incredible reputation of the products, especially Nutrilite dietary supplements, that the attitude people have towards this company and this business opportunity in general has changed for the better in the past few years? I think it's ridiculous to hide your company name when you have so many positive attributes to be proud of, and so few negatives, as opposed to the reputation we had maybe 10 years ago.

There's going to come a time in the near future when IBO's will want to be known as the local "Amway guy" or "Amway girl" just like there are neighborhood Avon ladies right now, because people will be seeking out our products and looking for someone to buy from, and they might even be interested in the business opportunity as well.

Jeff, I couldn't agree more. In fact surveys have shown that the ad campaigns, sponsorships (Tina Turner, Miss America, etc.) NBA Finals and Amway Arena, the truck and bus, to name a few, have raised Amway's acceptance in North America.
I too tell everyone, up front, that I am in Amway. I was one of those people that found out that I was in Amway when I went to sign the already filled out registration form. I was furious. Not that I was joining Amway, but this person (since having quit) had been so vague about the company that was going to be supplying the products.

Okay, I would have to say that I am a Stealth Distributor, but I am trying to recover from that.

I originally joined Amway in the early 90's and had moderate success. I did run into many more no's because of the old Amway notion from the 70's and 80's, and early in the 90's we were putting our last names on Business cards and never really telling people it was Amway until we excited them with the dollar signs.

Soon, Amway was rolling out Quixtar and the internet was going to explode this thing. Unfortunately, I was also downline of many of the IBO's that got kicked out because of the business materials scam.

I never really wanted to disguise Amway and I really like the Ribbon Gift card program that I currently use in my offline business endeavors. I guess I am still at an age where I remeber when and that causes me to be somewhat stealth sometimes, but one cannot argue with over 60 years of success.

I vow to be silenced no more.
