What are some of the mistakes you made
Now everyone has endured some tough times in this industry like chasing family and friends ..trying to get people to buy what you have and simply make money . I understand the average network marketer only lasts for 60 days before quitting..what are some mistakes in this industry that causes people to fail ?

Well, the biggest problem is probably saying the wrong thing or talking to the wrong people.
You can't say the wrong thing to the right person, and vice-versa.
So do you think it might be good to learn what to say and who to say it to?

absolutely !some of us do not know how to approach the right ones...but I wouldn't go out and buy a whole script book on how to talk to prospects..then use the script book and quote everything in it word for word. Its good to get to know the different personality types..just to get a clear idea what to say and what to do .brotherkaleem wrote:Well, the biggest problem is probably saying the wrong thing or talking to the wrong people.

The biggest thing in this industry that causes people to fail is that they quit. Winston Churchill said,'Never ever, ever, ever, ever quit.' You won't fail if you never quit. That's the biggest mistake. It's going to take more than 60 days to get to know your market. Even longer if you are studying your product. Yes, you have to study your product to the point that you know just about everything about it. You become an expert in your field. You will learn you do not have to chase anybody down and choke them out to take your products. You want them to come to you for advice and get information to know about your products. This all takes time with a certain technique.

Re: What are some of the mistakes you made
It takes anything between 3 & 5 years before you will get to see real results from your network marketing business.
Of the mistakes I made in the past were -
* Accepting that my downline would do what they were expected to, they won't - you will need to guide & mentor them until they ARE working THEIR businesses properly.
* Investing too much money in books, tapes, DVD's & other "training material" being promoted by senior upline groups as the "secrets" to becoming successful with that company.
* Expecting very quick results for my input, not realising that my business would grow depending on the work done by my downline. Not "STICKING WITH IT" for long enough to become successful!
But...as the saying goes - you only make the mistake once.

I would have to say joining to many opportunities at once and not focusing on a primary business. Also not choosing the right people to be apart of your team.

The biggest mistake I see in this industry is that inexperienced distributors are duplicating themselves when they have not been taught properly in the first place. Chinese whisper effect.
"It's easy - go out and find 5 who find 5 who find 5 ....... and Bingo - residual income for life!""
It is a fact that 80% of the population do NOT have the desire or the perseverence to make any business (traditional or MLM) work because they will not take the time to personally develop themselves or have any real inclination to do anything about their "circumstances".
We cannot change this - we just have to accept it.
My BIG mistake - I had so much enthusiasm and I wanted it so much for my team that I would have done it all for them. BIG mistake - the minute I stopped doing it for them and stopped motivating them - guess what ? - They stopped too, because the desire was not really THEIRS.
What we can do is focus on the 20% of people who really do want to change their lives - make them show YOU what their commitment level is and then SHOW them a way to achieve it.
Assume everyone is your next superstar, until they don't do something they say they're going to do.
The leaders will soon emerge!

Not one mistake. All and everything was simply an opportunity to learn. Even if it was to learn how NOT to do it !
Seriously, sometimes it took me a while to realize what I was doing or saying was not giving me the results I wanted. Some would call those decisions: mistakes. They weren't. And yes sometimes I still kick myself that it took me so long to realize I needed to step back and see what the results were before I spent more energy and effort on any particular method or system or for that fact, my company.
But they all added to my experience and if that's the case, they can't be called mistakes. Only learning curves.

Good point above about the script book.
Scripts only work if the person you're talking to has the script, too.
Another observation...
A lot of people fail in MLM because they don't know what they don't know.
