Read as many sales letters from notable copywriters as you can. That way you will write like the greatest ;)

Interesting suggestions.

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned this one yet.

But "Scientific Advertising" by Claude C. Hopkins is still one of the best books on advertising, marketing, and writing ads that make money -- even if it is an "oldie".

Keep in mind that it's definitely not a course.

But you should be able to find it for free online these days because it is public domain.
(Even if you do, buy yourself a hard copy as well - it's worth it!)

I highly recommend it to everybody interested in writing copy.

If you are serious about internet marketing, I suggest you immerse yourself into copywriting. There are some wonderful books and courses online that could serve as a starting point. Just do a quick search in Google for free copywriting courses.

Depending on how deep you want to go, you could end up spending quite a bit on top level training. If you are just wanting to learn how to write good ads, stop by your local library and see if they have any material from Jeffrey Lant. I highly recommend his book entitled, “Cash Copy”. I’ve read it dozens of times and consider it my copywriting bible. Hope this helps.

Not bad. You want to tell a story. If your just doing some small ad creation that's a bit different, but on your main websites, LP's etc. you'll want to tell a story, people love that! (A story that drives emotion)

All the Best,

There are loads of sites that offer training on the basics of copywriting. I learned some strategies when browsing through them.

Hey Eric,

I know that this post is quite a old (a few weeks at least) but I figured I would chime in. Why? Because copy writing is one of a marketers most important skills. So it is important to get it right.

Anyways, yesterday on my TV show I covered your question with my audience. Check out the recording here at BetterNetworker (http://www.betternetworker.com/videos/view/marketing/missing-link-premier-episode).

I hope it helps answer your question. Leave me a comment under the recording to let me know if it helped and any other thoughts that you might have.

And if you have the chance, you can catch me live tonight 4PM PST or 7PM EST at http://www.michaelnovak.me/live

Maarius,
Great. I'm going to check this out right now!
Thanks for the information and yes, that book is awesome...
Jason! Can't wait to see you at Live The Dream. Thank you for the outstanding idea to 'encapsulate' a blog article in 500 words or less?!!

if you're new to copywriting, you'll benefit most in the early stages from having a proper swipefile.

Regarding swipefiles, refer to a thread i started on this forum: BN Community's Ever-Growing Copywriting Swipefile

another good resource to study (i trust you're willing to invest in building your own business skills?) is a book you can get from amazon: The Ultimate Sales Letter

hope this helps. go nuts 8-)
