The people who fight for it being ok to insult you by basically asking you how much $$$ you make in your first conversation are the ones who do it. The most famous bunch for that actually use really bad free training (more like brain washing, hence the robotic
feel of the line of questioning) which promotes this desperate behavior.
No one like to be made to look like a fool (I think that was in how to win friends and influence people) or told they were stupid to not have made a better choice, even if it's true!
So why bother right? Because it works on some just often enough for people to continue teaching it... sad but true.
Saying the compensation plan is very important is like saying how much your significant other makes was the very important too
. For some of us it was/is and it's perfectly fine.
But, it's not that way for everyone obviously... Some of us actually want to know we can learn to sell the widgets
and not just that selling one could potentially earn us a squillion more dollars if we join your comp plan.
Start talking dollars and sense to me, you've lost me... I've had the same comp plan for 10 years and I couldn't tell you if its binary or matrix or what!
So me how your selling a squillion of those widgets and It doesn't matter if I make pennies per sale... I'll be a squillionaire soon enough...
I let my potential prospects tell me which one, if any of the features and benefits, is most important for them. THEN WE TALK ABOUT THAT. It's not for me or you to decide... its not about what we think is most important.
It's likely to be a little different for everyone. Just ask people... just ask.
P.S. I give 'em a piece of my mind every chance I get. I told the last guy who sent me a link so I could tell him, "if it made sense", that i felt like he just asked me to put my hands down his pants and tell him it I liked what I feel
