I agree - I have nearly 50000 on lists that I have built and the key is OFTEN...
BUT - as a HUGE word of warning - don't consistently sell sell sell...
Invest in getting 40 - 50 articles written (do this once per year) and then you have a good article once per week to send out.
I have tested a few times and OPT OUT rates go up if I pitch more than twice in a week.
http://www.powerlistmarketing.com is a cool tool to put more people on your list more often...

Hey Ed,

Honestly as long as your giving good value to your list on a consistent basis, who cares if a few people unsubscribe from your list? Personally I LIKE IT when people unsubscribe because then only the people that want to be there will still be on my list.

As Daegan Smith mentioned in an earlier post, who do you think is going to make more money:

1) The guy that gets 100% open rate but only mails his list once a month?

2) The guy that gets 10% open rate but mails his list every day?

When you do the math its absolutely staggering the difference between the two. That being said don't worry about unsubscribes because there are more leads on this planet than you could possibly ever deal with. There's an abundance for everyone to claim and if you simply do the right things, you'll be in that position a lot sooner than you think.

I was very tentative when I started building and mailing mine.

First off, I started with about once a month, then increased that to twice a month. I was quite concerned (overly) about list burnout I had been warned so much about.

Now, I seem to mail every other day for about 2 weeks then wait another 2 weeks before mailing again. I say "seem to" because I have no set schedule or plan :oops:

Thanks all. This thread has made me realise I need a schedule / plan and that I should be mailing far more regularly.

I'm getting 15-25% opens, usually 20-25%, so don't think I need to be worried about burning 'em out just yet! ;)

I think I will be taking Aaron Rashkin's advice. I will be emailing my list once a day now. I want to maximize my list and maximize my time and effort. If you are going to build online you might as well enjoy the benefits from doing so. Thanks for everyone's input.

Hey CK,

I couldn`t agree more and I find it amazing how so many people seem to miss on that one little point which can literally jeopardize their success online. They operate in the mindset that they desperately need to start making money so when they see someone say, ``The money is in the list``, they take them literally and bypass that one crucial step and begin in a constant state of non stop promotion and pitching.

One of the greatest lessons that I learned from Daegan is that you should treat your list almost like a radio show. He told me that you always want to keep your list guessing at what is going to come next however at the same time trying to enrich their lives as much as possible.

Michael, Hi!

I truly believe that Daegan hit the nail on the head. In our industry consistency is key; "CONSISTENCE" = SUCCESS. I also believe that it is imperative that we consistently provide value, and not just approach our list's in-boxes with our "virtual" hand out (always pitching/non-stop sales). In a training I was recently studying, it was emphasized that the true "money and profit" is not in your list and the act of simply emailing them, because honestly anybody can do that. But rather the true perpetual profit is in the RELATIONSHIP that we build with our list. In other words, getting to know the needs, desires, struggles, ect. of our prospects/list. So with that being stated, I believe that the question now becomes not how many times should we email our list, but rather how do we strengthen the bond we have with our list (though pure value). How do we increase their level of trust in us and our skills as a leader? How do we enhance the relationship and increase our prospects virtual experience with us? In my opinion, I believe that it comes from providing daily consistent value.

Truth be told, Michael there's no set number of times. I believe, like Daegan, that we must be consistent though, and that only through our consistency will the relationship we build reveal what our prospects/list desire, want, and truly need.

Hey everyone,

First off I just want to thank everyone for all the interaction in this thread because I feel that everyone can benefit and learn a lot from conversations like this (especially when you have guys like Daegan Smith in here ;).

Next I`d just like to say that I find it so funny when people say, ``OH If you email too much then people will unsubscribe from your list and THATS BAD!`` Operating in this manner you are literally telling yourself that there aren`t enough leads to go around and you are in a scarcity mindset. You truly believe that there is a cap on how many leads you can pull in, how much money you`ll make, and whether or not people will like you or respect you.

One of the biggest things that I have learned from Daegan is that even if you don`t have any huge breakthrough testimonials off the start, you always want to LEAD WITH VALUE FIRST.

What I`ve really come to realize is that people don`t care about what it is you have but rather they care far more about the value that you share with them. When you really think about it, who do you respect more:

a) The guy that`s throwing $100 bills off a balcony and says, ``Hey come buy my marketing system because then you can be like me``.

b) The guy that says, ``Hey here`s some free strategies where you can go out and get free leads when you are first starting and then from there we can scale your growth up?``

I don`t know about you, but I think it is so DAMN CHEESY when people market their material possessions as a way of ``selling the lifestyle`` instead of ``selling the value``. If you study some of the top marketers your going to realize very quickly who is good at what they do and who is GREAT at what they do.

That being said, don`t worry about people unsubscribing from your list. WELCOME IT WITH OPEN ARMS! Be glad that your list is filtering out of that the people that want to be there are still there. I heard it said once that when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

I, like Daegen, enjoy it when people click the ubsubscribe button. Because that proves to me that they are not serious about online marketing, or purchasing a product from me.

I recently started creating my list, and though it may be small, I have the mind-set that there will always be fresh leads on a daily basis. I send mail once a week to that list, and on holidays, or when something special has happened in my life, just to show them that I am human.
