For instance Squidoo has banned almost all Network Marketing lenses. However, they have opened up another site that is more commercial-oriented than the main Squidoo site where Network Marketing lenses can appear.

Hubpages is very particular about its content as well. In addition, Hubpages wants only original content - not duplicated on other sites on the Internet. All hubs are reviewed by humans - not a software program - and they do check for duplicate content. If they find it, they won't publish your hub - and your Hub score also goes down.

Thanks again my dear!
Very insightful. :)

You are spot on. And you are right it is very misunderstood topic.
Thanks for taking the time to explain it so well.

It gets confusing because places like Hubpages play by different rules than Google.
Hubpages will kill your article if it finds it elsewhere on the web - even on your own website.

Thank you Betsycz!

Would you mind elaborating on your hub pages topic?

Demystifying a Hugely Misunderstood Topic!

Hello fellow Better Networkers!

If you've been writing articles for your blog, article directories, or social bookmarking in order to generate traffic to your site you may have heard about "Duplicate Content!"

This is a Hugely misunderstood topic!

Most people think that if you write an article for ezinearticles that they CAN'T use it on their blog or other article directories because they are scared of getting slapped for posting duplicate content.

Well, guess what!? This is absolutely NOT TRUE!
Doing so is NOT duplicate content!

Most people think that Google will only rank one result, or not rank it at all because of seeing the same content, again NOT true!

If this WAS true than Google would be slapping guest bloggers and writers everywhere!

Want proof!? Go to an article and copy and paste the entire article into Google's search engine box.
Then make sure you put "quotation marks" around the search so that Google returns an exact match. You will find the same article on several different websites and Google has NOT penalized them!

Tip: This especially works with review articles.

So, now that we know what duplicate content is NOT...
Let's define what it IS!

When the same article is placed on multiple pages of the SAME website Google will then see this as duplicate content!

So, to recap...

It is perfectly OK to place the SAME article on multiple websites, blogs, directories, and social bookmarking sites!

It is NOT OK to place the same article on the same website more than once!

Ok, if this article helped you please show some love and share it! :D
