About Offering Freebies

Postby Joe Pariseau on Sat Oct 29, 2011 12:53 am

It’s hard to resist anything that’s free. This is why giving freebies can be a great strategy in internet marketing. The most common example is giving out free newsletter subscriptions or ebooks if they join your mailing list. You can also give free online seminars so they can get to know you and your business better. It also shows greater sincerity. For each purchase, giving out freebies such as accessories for the product you are selling is also a good way to show value to your customers.

Please share your thoughts.

That is a good thought to offer free stuff to customers.
I started out giving out samples to attract people who would like it and then join and buy the products for themselves. Big mistake on my part. I gave away several of my products at my expense and got zero results. I posted this question on the BN. The participants all agreed that giving away your products does not lead to any sales.
Once people sign up with you, you could offer free samples before they decide to place an order or before receiving their order. Once they sign up for the information, they are your customers. You can send them information and many other freebies even if they don't buy right away.

It is truly how virtually every marketer gets people on their list. The key thing is for it to be irritable! Like one of my big ones is a free recruiting tool that is one they have to see what it is.

Mario,

Making a few mistakes is part of the learning process. Thank you for sharing that experience as it will help others, especially those who are still starting to grow their business.

My opinion, it depends on what you are giving for free. If you are offering something of value such as a free report or free ebook to help them with their own business, then I think Absolutely, because if you are taking an Other's Focused perspective, you definitely do want to give first and show that you are sincere. If you want people to opt in to your list to see what you have going on and how you can help them to be successful, then yes, by offering them that free report, sometimes even a training video, etc is definitely the way to do.

Now, in the situation where you are giving away free product if you are doing a "Product Based" Business, that can get a little "hairy" you might want to find something else of value to offer them than your actual product. I know in some businesses, though, they do offer the "free samples" to test things out prior to buying.

It seems that all the 'freebie' information that I have checked out only gave the free information that lead up to offering to buy something. So all the free stuff many have talked about only lead the buy page at the bottom. The freebies was their article advertising their product for you to buy.

Hey Mario,

Yes, that is usually what happens, most marketers will offer a free report that provides SOME information to entice a person to "Opt In" to find out more, and yes, that gets the person into the leads list, which hopefully, on the back end they will buy something to get moved to the buyers' list.

Some people offer much more value with their "Free" offer than others and again, how many times do we hear, "The Money is in the list" It's not IN the List but in the RELATIONSHIP that we create with our list by providing them with value and solutions and not just trying to get money from them.

The information your prospect customers get out of your free ebook is not only going to benefit your company but the customer as well. It is up to you on how you give them value through the information you provide. If you formulate your contents in a way that you sound like you are just selling something, your prospect customers will most likely lose interest.

Very good point! I have gotten to the point even for myself, that if I am viewing something, if it is too pitchy, I won't share it with other people. I won't do to other people what I don't like having done to me. "Following the Golden Rule here and little backwards, LOL"
