Got to thinking today.... is their any benefit to building backlinks to youtube videos or products for sale at Amazon? Does this help them in search results at all?
Search within the site itself?

Re: backlinks to youtube and Amazon
In the past, I've written articles to promote my YouTube videos, but I don't think it makes that much difference.
Now I simply use YouTube videos to send traffic to my website.
Personally, I don't enjoy building links for other people's websites, such as YouTube, Amazon, etc.
If I am going to build links, they will be for my website. Just food for thought.

Building links to your youtube videos that have links to your main site is always a good thing.
They are called link wheels (well, the wbove example is the beginning stages of a link wheel).
Not gonna go crazy explaining them because it would take to long, you can google it and get some info on them. Some people like them, some people say they are a waste of time.
I have had luck with them. Read up on them and you can get a better idea on how they work.

I understand how they work.
My OP was asking, if you build backlinks to your youtube videos or amazon products (I have 2 books for sale there), does that change/improve their results in searches on those sites?

Got ya.
I backlink to YouTube Videos and have good results getting them ranked well in the search engines.
I haven't tried direct amazon pages personally.
But I would certainly throw some backlinks at a youtube video.
