I mainly use blog commenting for building my 'Brand'

I use my full name, and link to a photo, Social profile, or anything about me.

This way when a subscriber searches you, they find lots of information about you. :D

personally I think blog commenting is great. When you add value to the blog positions you as an authority figure on the topic. I always use my full name when creating my links and I always link to my personal blog. I never put my keywords as the anchor text because for my own personal blog when I see this I don't even bother to read the post, it immediately gets deleted

So are people using this method of backlinking for SEO purposes or just pure traffic ? I mean if it's pure traffic then you need to find a high traffic blog...and hope to get approved, if it's for SEO, than you are WASTING your time and the site's bandwidth as many comments now-a-days are nofollow, so consider your position when using this fruitless method...Surely there is a brand building function of this method, instead of leaching off of someones blog traffic and PR why not spend more time writing GREAT CONTENT so people link to YOU NATURALLY....this is how you really build authority PERIOD

You can put your keyword in your name block.
You will comment on dofollow blogs.

I use both. Sometimes keywords and sometimes my name, it all depends on the blogger's policy. I always try to follow their policies first.

And of course, I will always leave a comment far from the normal "Thanks for sharing" or "Great Article"

That's is just not good in my eyes. So leave a good comment to keep on the conversation.
