Do you Spy On Your PPC Competition?

Postby Tarron Acuff on Fri Jan 30, 2009 2:21 pm

I have used some different tools in the past to try and spy on my PPC competition. Some were good and others were not. I found a new keyword tool that you can use for free that Brad Callen (creator of Keyword Elite & SEO Elite) called PPC Web Spy. It is actually a firefox plugin, so yes you have to use firefox will not work with IE.

It lets you spy on your competitors keywords right from google search engine as you are doing your searches.

I have been using it for a little bit this week.... seems pretty good. Since it is free it is worth trying. look in my sig to download.

I was wondering if any of you spy on your competition and if so what works best for you?

Yes..its awesome.

I think this is a double dose of goodies.
I just downloaded a really cool tool that I'm using to spy on my Adwords competition, and come up with more keywords I can use for my campaigns.

It's really slick. It installs right into your web browser and I can't even tell it's running when my browser's open.

I can see what anyone's Adwords keywords are with this addon. Anyway, I thought you'd be interested in downloading since it's free.

You can get it here for free :

I just wrote about PPC Web Spy today on my blog.

It doesn't appear to really show you the keywords. If you do a search you usually don't actually see the keyword you wanted to spy on listed! You see similar keywords that person might bid on but not the one you wanted to see. That's a major flaw.

Another major flaw is they are data mining in one location. So I cannot see information on people who only buy PPC ads regionally because they are not showing up in their data mines.

I bought PPC Web Spy platinum and at first I thought it looked good but at this point I'm telling people to wait and see. Wait and see if they improve the software.

I don't know about this guys. I must admit that I have not always taken the high road in the past and am far less than perfect but spying seems contradictory to what we are trying to accomplish here.

There are enough people out there for all of our businesses to grow beyond belief. The person you are spying on is another networker who has similar challenges to you. As opposed to spying, I would prefer to spend my energy working on new solutions so everybody wins.

I am not going to say that I am an expert at Adwords, and I literally only have a days worth of experience before our industry became "illegitimate", but I was getting clicks at $.06 and $.08 cents that converted to leads for less than a dollar because I did about 20 minutes worth of extra homework.

I wonder what is the purpose of spying adwords competition? I think the one and only should be just to get some ideas for our own campains. But the word "spying" sounds negative to me. It cannot attract positive results, because when you spy your competition it express that you don't have your own ideas, or that you want to "get rich quick results", or that you don't want to do your homework - keyword research, or just simply you are newbie to ppc and didn't get through some training. This is my opinion based on the Law of Attraction point of view.

Terence

Good Morning Terence,

I just want to mention something, unfortunately, your post is not contributing to this forum. It seem to be underlying spam, encourage to check your affiliate link twice. I don't think it's proper post for this forum. If you could post your postive experience about the ppc spy tool, that would be great! Hope I don't offense you at all. I'm looking forward to your future posting.

Actually, I don't recommend most of the spy tools because they're unreliable.

I've gone into some detail about it here along with an alternative for studying the competition that i think is a superior choice...

and here i rag on them some more...
