Not thinking it will get the same attention as a public, but why would you mark it as private and then expect it to get indexed?

I guess no, because private blog post would be only visible for editors and administrator. You go through the following url where you will find more information regarding to this subject. Hopefully useful.

When you mark a post/page as private it puts a "no-follow" tag line on the post. Google will see it but will not index it or show it in search results. It's a good thing to do if you are giving something away and you don't want just anyone to find it, "Thank You" pages are an example. It is also good for team and private training if you don't want to install a Membership site.

I would think in the robots.txt file there would be the virtual robots file which includes the following 2 lines (unless it is modified by some kind of plugin or by your blog’s privacy settings):
User-agent: * (index all pages)
Disallow: yourblog.com/your-blog-post (which pages to disallow indexing by the SE's)

These lines tell all crawlers (called user agents) that all the pages and directories of your site can be indexed, including your admin pages (such as yourblog.com/wp-admin/ ).

As you may have guessed, indexing admin pages in search engines is not recommended, so you should definitely do some tweaking to these settings in order to improve SEO and prevent irrelevant pages from being indexed.

Anyway, hope this helps...HF

You can "no-follow" any part of your blog you want, Posts, Pages, Comments regardless of the robots.txt. It's just a tag that gets put in front of the link.
