Does changing old blog content hurt your rankings?

Postby Luke Shavak on Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:33 am

Hey guys.

I recently started using SEOPressor and couldn't believe how UNoptimised my blog is.

My question is:

If I go back through all my old posts - and optimise them with SEOPressor will these hurt my current rankings with google??

I heard that google likes fresh content - and this won't help?

However I also read a forum post on the warrior forum which says it WILL help.. I already have a few rankings at #4, #5 etc. and on the forum they said it can help bump my old posts up even higher!

Which is correct?? :?

It will help and improve.

Right now Google may not be too sure of what your page is about, it may think it's about dog training, or dog leashes.

But once you fix it up, it will see what your page/website is all about.

Just make sure you DO NOT change your theme at anytime. This will really screw up your rankings for a while. You'll get them back, but not for a long time.

updation in the content always prove useful as google always wants new fresh contents for crawling the sites so dont think so that if you update your blog content it will decrease the rankings.

Once you edit and publish it again, does it not hurt to ping that same blog post url again? Thoughts? Thanks

I'm not sure what you are asking, but here's what i'll say.

If you edit your post, you will definitely want to ping your url for the next few days in order to get it indexed. If you can fork over $5, go to Fiverr.com and get a gig for bookmarking to 50-100 sites.
This will get your website indexed fast.

If you ping, only ping once or twice a day. "They" say if you do anymore than this, you will get sandboxed.

I have yet to test this, but during the next big "gooroo" launch I will be testing that theory.
