Google Content Network Warning

Postby Kurt Henninger on Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:17 am

Hey folks,

Just wanted to pass on what I see as Google going through a pretty big content network "slap" right now.

I'll be honest, I love the content network. The traffic is harder to understand to get to, but it can be very responsive.

Just logged into my account the other day and one of my content network only campaigns was showing zero impressions. Usually I get tens of thousands of impressions a day, with quite a few good clicks.

So, I waited a day, then two, then upped the bids on all my adgroups...still nothing.

Now I use my own unique domain on the content network...tons of inbound links, hundreds of outbound link. Hundreds of pages for that domain. Nothing replicated whatsoever on there. My main page I send traffic to in fact has a PR of 2 and is on the first page of google the keyword from the domain name.....so I feel its not a bad site.

However, when I contacted Google, I got this message and I am quoting here:

"I understand that you're concerned that your ads are no longer appearing
on the content network. Having reviewed your ad and site, we have found
that it is currently ineligible to run on our content network. Due to
multiple complaints from our users and publishers, we are disallowing
certain categories of ads from syndicating on our networks."

Ouch! I've seen some of the usual suspects missing from some of what I consider the primo content network locations as well. I've had a few conversations on other, more affiliate marketing centric, forums and some confirmed they had seen the same thing.

Probably related to the previous post on this forum "Google hates MLMers and Affiliate Marketer".

Anyway, my point here is to let those who use the content network know what could be in store for them.

OK, off to re-think my content network strategy. I'm gonna get back on there no matter what! Just a bump in the road ;)
