My Top Traffic Sources and What It Means

Postby Charles Holmes on Mon Oct 31, 2011 6:26 am

Hello Friends,

In this short article, I want to share my top 9 traffic sources for my website for the month of October 2011. I’ve had 24,000+ free visitors this month, without advertising. And the month isn’t over yet. I’m going to share my 9 leading traffic sources and provide a couple tips about each one.

1. Google: I get close to 66% of my traffic from Google. That’s why I am working so hard on finding other traffic sources. I don’t want to be dependent on one referrer.

2. Email Marketing: I drive a tsunami of traffic to my website every day through email marketing. I send emails to my subscriber list once or twice a day, referring them back to my website. Within the next six months, I anticipate this will be my # 1 traffic source, surpassing the big Google. My subscriber list grows every day.

3. Yahoo: This search engine provides a few hundred visitors each month.

4. Bing: Like Yahoo, this search engine provides a few hundred visitors each month.

5. SBI Forums: I am very active in the Site Build It forums. I try to leave 2-4 comments every day, seven days a week. I also participate in other, non SBI forums, such as Better Networker.

6. Facebook: I am very active with Facebook. I post one to two links from my website on my fan page every day. I use Facebook PPC to get more fans. My 2-5 year goal is to have 100,000 fans. I anticipate this will surpass my Google traffic too.

7. Ask.com : This doesn’t account for much, but sends a constant flow of traffic each month.

8. Ezine Articles: This is pretty much the only article directory I use. I’m not real active with it, but I do try to create a few articles each month.

9. Blog Comments: I am very active with Blog comments. I try to comment on 3-5 network marketing blogs 7 days per week. I anticipate this will become a top 3-4 traffic source within the next 6-12 months.

I hope this information helps you. Your key to success is to pick 3-5 traffic sources, outside of the search engines, and focus exclusively on those.

That is just my two cents.

What are your thoughts?

Hey Chuck,

Excellent tips, thanks for sharing! Yes, Article Marketing, Forum Marketing, Social Media Marketing and Blog Commenting are all very good Free ways to get traffic, and WOW, GOOD for you! That is AWESOME! Keep up the GREAT Work. Other great ways to get traffic as well that I like using are safelists and traffic exchanges. If used correctly, both of these can provide quality traffic as well.

Thanks Jocelyn. I've never used safelists or traffic exchanges. I will do some research on that.

Any recommendations?

I think you might be the first person I've heard really say
they use traffic exchanges effectively.

With the safelist....the credit based safeslist can work
but the free safelist are just a waste of time.

Hey Anthony,

Notice I said if used CORRECTLY, Traffic Exchanges can be very effective. Most people will simple put their Affiliate Webpages in there and then get upset because they are not yielding any results. Everyone in the Traffic Exchanges are doing the same thing, they are trying to get people to join their business or opportunity, most are not looking to join something new, they are looking for ways to promote themselves. As we know, Network Marketing is about connecting with other people and creating relationships. Creating a Unique Splash/Opt In Page that brands YOU and offer them something of value to opt in to get them on your list. Once you have them on your list, you can promote anything you want to them.

Jocelyn,

You are spot on here. You have to be different. I'm so tired of most people promoting the same systems, same affiliate products and same companies.

Whenever I talk with another network marketer, I immediately get pitched. I normally laugh at them and say "how's that going for you?"

I promise you, the people making the money aren't pitching anyone.

Hey Chuck,

It gets to the point where I can tell EXACTLY what company or affiliate program someone is promoting within seconds because I recognize the capture page or worse yet, the replicated website. Now don't get me wrong, there are some really GREAT capture pages out there and they work really well at first, but you gotta shake it up some and create something new. I seriously got to the point where I could spot the MLMLSP or Mentoring For Free pages a mile away. And again, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with these pages, but most people starting out will use these and if everyone is using the same style of pages, what is going to motivate me to join You over Joe Schmoe using the exact same page?

And YES, I mentioned in another post, Facebook especially, The second I connect with someone and they are trying to "pitch" me.

Other Blogging: Post blogs on other blog sites.
Forum Marketing: Forums are one of the very few traffic sources online where you can literally start driving visitors in a matter of minutes.Create forum signature that leads people back to your pressure page.
Social Media : Lot of people still do not realize how much traffic you can drive from sites like Twitter and Facebook when you do it right.
Paid Advertising : Paid advertising means PPC Pay Per Click. It is very fast obtain traffic.
