Myth or Truth

Postby Cheryl Pope on Sun Feb 08, 2009 1:41 am

Ok I been at this for awhile but would like to know how do you get your Sub domain to rank with Google?
I thought that google never picked up sub domains but now I have seen proof? Where do I start to get my Sub domain Ranking? Thanks ~ Cheryl

The same as a regular domain. Keywords and anchor tags (keywords within titles). I actually had a bunch of sub-domains, which may have hurt me more than helped, and I started to see rankings for certain keywords. They were never purposely keywords, but it was a test to see how Google ranks. Treat them the same as a regular ".com".

I guess the only advice I can give you, what I didn't do and learned from, is to make sure your sub-domain relates to the the real domain. I know I probably threw alot of people off with my sub-domains because the niches were no where in relation. O and your profile here actually gets ranked....it may not be first page....but it's ranked. Try searching for your name, or your biz name, or even something you say alot...you'd be surprised what get's picked up. Hope I helped.

Thanks so much for the fast reply! The part I get confused about is I don't want the main domain to take my rankings. I have been submitting it for years to SE's but it's no where to be found. So following the plan for SEO would be my next step as I ignored those procedures as I thought it would never rank

Ok I see. Well try this....start putting keywords into the title of your entries and in the content. Make sure you (keyword intentionally) name the site, so that it reads whatever you want it to at the VERY TOP of the internet browser. This helps out big time. If your trying to differentiate your domain and sub-domain....make sure your keywords are no where related. Even if your on page 15 on google...at least your ranked! The goal is to reach the first page.

I just hope you aren't makin' the same sub-domain mistakes I made.

I understand but the problem is I cannot edit the Sub domain Page :) It's owned by the Company.
