In my opinion one should start with SEO (free traffic)
and once you have built the momentum and your blog/site start getting traffic,
Than you have to analysis your traffic (through web master tootls e.g. Google/Bing) than you can find that what keyword people are searching for and later on you can depend on the Paid traffic...

Both are good for increase traffic. In free traffic can continue to come for a long time after you stop working. Paid Traffic can take a while to get a significant amount of traffic. In paid traffic You have to spend money to make money. In free traffic you don’t have to worry about ad spend, budget, etc.

It does not matter whether you are getting free traffic or paid traffic for your website. The main point is getting the right type of traffic. For this you have to make sure that you are marketing your website at the appropriate places.

Absolutely right I agree with you it doesn't issue whether you are getting free or paid traffic for your web page. The major factor is bring the right way of traffic.

The Web's most popular self-serve traffic marketplace. Buy single placements or run of network. Pay flat rate or CPM. Many interesting features.

Re: Paid Traffic or Free Traffic ,Which is Better ?
Hello,
Our research has not revealed any major difference between on site conversion rates between paid and organic (free) traffic. In other words: in terms of sales once the visitors get to your site, it doesn't matter wether the traffic was paid or free, they buy at the same rate.
So the question then is, are you looking for long term or short term investments in resources? Adwords can be a great way to get sales now. There is no long term commitment and you can get started almost immediately. It can and is usually very expensive.
Organic, or free traffic, takes time and lots and lots of effort. Even if you hired someone else to get you ranked on the front page of google, you would spend less than if you ran the equivelant campaign on Adwords.
In short, if you have loads of time (6 months) go for free traffic, if you don't, I would advise Adwords.

This is how I get lots of traffic and still do...
Google your niche. Go to the top ten sites that come up on search results. Go into each website and contact each website owner and ask to place a banner ad "above the fold" on their site. Google another keyword and do the same. Do about 10 keywords related to your niche. and go to 10 websites on each. That will massively bring traffic to your money site.
As far as PPC goes, Facebook, Myspace (yes myspace) and Yahoo Classifieds are performing well for me now. Best ROI. You can target your niche more easily and its not over saturated yet so you can still make your dent in your market.
Also make sure you are using the 3 Key Concepts which will determine if you will succeed online or fail in todays economy.

Free traffic is better. First just because you can never ever lose with something thats free. Its not difficult you just have to do your homework and be a little patient. Paid advertising may be fast but you also have to know what your doing there is a lot of competition and it takes skill to stand out. Theres just too much risk with paid marketing esp for new network marketers.
