From my experience with people that have done PPC advertising its seem to be a case of hit or miss for a lot of them. I think a lot of it comes down to marketing skills too and knowing how to target the market your into.

Experienced marketers i know seem to make a killing on it while less experienced or even marketers with no experience have tried it and got very little from it.

A minimum budget of $1000 per month for at least six months seems to be what you need to go for when starting off. Its going to be expensive if you get it wrong unless you have a mentor of an experienced PPC user to help you.

An effective use of PPC is for a convertion test. Do a small test campaign with carefully set money limits to determine whether your site is converting or not. You can get all the free or paid traffic in the world, but if your site isn't converting them it was just a waste of time.

Other than that, I think to really make money with PPC you need to really know it and its trends. If I were to go that route, I would hire a professional to do it for me.

It's weird because with PPC most people need to have a large budget. You dump a lot of money into it and get data. From that data you tweak your campaign and continue to do so as the results increase. I was fortunate enough to throw $50 bucks of advertising on FB during the Elevation Group Launch in December and I made 2 sales that weren't refunded. The thing is I really put my energy into my ads and believed they were going to work. Other than that I don't do much PPC. I do PPV which gets data much faster in my opinion and of course SEO <3.

If PPC is burning your budget and not getting a return you might want to try
the hybrid concept that has proven effective over the last 6 months.
Tribe Pro promote your website and brand through social media and make it stupid easy to rank on Google.
Hard to believe? Google "mlm funk" and see Ray Higdon has landed the #1 spot on Google for that keyword he aimed for yesterday. (Because Tribe Pro instantly creates a ton of credible back links.)

Why are so many saying they are getting burned in PPC, honestly this is not the fault of the network, or the fault of the potential prospect.

You do not need a BIG BUDGET for PPC, in fact with all things remaining equal, you get out what you put in.

Lets talk standard conversion rates ... 3% ? Good, I manage accounts with 7% conversion rates, and that's exciting, but what has to be considered is your ploy, your message, and the value proposition.

Many landing pages are marketer focused, meaning the benefit of name, email, and telephone number is only to the marketer. There has to be greater value than the ebook.

The language used on the page cannot consist of "secret", "system", or "ill show you how", it's overused language throughout the industry, thus without wanting to be cookie cutter in your approach, you are being exactly that.

There are tons of horrible landing pages out there... for example

Look at the language. Some keywords from the landing page include:

Guaranteed Income
will create massive wealth for you
$60,000 per month
This system allows anyone, anywhere to turn on a profit faucet that spills out an income that never stops.

This landing page will do HORRIBLE on GOOGLE PPC NETWORKS as it makes claims totally against the TOS.

If you are using replicated sites then ummm bless you, you poor soul paying insane amounts per click, yes google will penalize you for the replicated site.

So what are you paying per click ? 1.00 ? 2.00 ? more ?
How much are your average leads costing you ? 10 bux ? more ?
Are you implementing heat maps on your landing page to better understand your on-site click patterns ?

My point exactly... that this industry wants to get off to the races without clearly understanding the science of PPC, furthermore the complaints are that the PPC networks are not fair...well I dare say you are not being fair to yourself or your business if you are not taking the time to understand Pay Per Click or your landing page...

Ever generated leads consistently for less than 2 bux a lead ? most will say impossible...hell I say it's impossible to fix the transmission on my Mercedes but damnit the skilled professionals know how to do it...

What I am saying is take pride in your business and start learning NOW...stop passing the bill of blame or get mad that you are losing money... IT's ALL YOUR FAULT!!!

I have been working with FB PPC for a while and have had good experiences with it. I noticed that CPC requires less maintenance if our new to PPC but you can get lower-cost clicks with CPM but you gotta pay more attention to it.

If you want to get THE definitive guide to PPC, look no further than David Schwind & Jim Yaghi's PPC Supremacy - they've re-opened the doors on this course, and they've been producing some terrific freemium videos over the last few days.

Just use Google to get the links :)

One rule of thumb that they're both very keen on doing in terms of strategy is sending a lot of traffic via ppc to a landing page, and then with the large email list that is built, encourage the leads to connect via social media.

Anyone else done this?

Dez.

For those newbies there is a way to try it and that is that right now Google seems to be giving away free $75 advertising everywhere. TRY it and see why they might be giving away this free advertising more than they ever have before.

I still think that PPC has value but only on very targeted keywords with very little competition. And then in that case just use it until you get yourself optimized in the top 5.

Hope that helps,
Cara
