PPC advertising stands for pay-per-click advertising, and is possibly the most direct method of advertising in existence. The great thing about PPC advertising is that you only pay when someone clicks your advert! This means you are not spending money on visitors who aren’t even interested in what you have to offer. The most common PPC network is google ad-words, and its usually the starting point for most PPC marketers. Having said that, I recently signed up to Facebook’s PPC network and am getting some great results. Anyway, I will now explain exactly how PPC advertising works.
1.) The advertiser joins a search engine or social networks PPC program and “loads” their account with some money — say, $50 (though some companies’ PPC budgets are in the hundreds of thousands, even millions, of dollars a month).
2.) The advertiser creates a small text ad (in some cases, PPC can include images).
3.) The advertiser specifies which keywords the advert should be associated with.
4.) The advertiser specifies how much they are willing to pay each time someone clicks on their advert.
5.) When someone enters the specified keywords in the search engine, or visits a relevant page in the social network, they will be presented with the advert on the right column of the page.
6.) The more the advertiser is willing to pay for each click, the higher up the search engine or social network their advert will be shown. (There is more than one advertiser for a certain set of keywords, so whoever pays the most per click is going to have their advert shown furthest up the page)
7.) If the searcher clicks the ad, they are taken to the advertiser’s Web site, and the advertiser is charged for the click.
It is as simple as that, and that is maybe why PPC remains to be one of the most traditional methods of advertising on the internet. The beauty of this type of advertising is that its a great way to get targeted traffic to your website, because the advert is only shown to people who have displayed an interest in what your advertising. You also only have to pay when someone clicks your advert, and this means you don’t waste money on traffic that doesn’t have any interest in what you have to offer.
Here are the main PPC networks that you should get started with:
Google Adwords
Facebook PPC
Yahoo PPC

Thats been my experience with PPC!!
Google's relevance formula seems to be harder to crack than the secret formula for coca cola!!
There are proffesional companies that do PPC, anyone have any luck with that? We are considering that for our twrp team build.

Re: PPC For Beginners
PPC is one of those tools / methods that you constantly need to study, test and tweak. It is not something that you can just jump into and think you will make money.
When you setup a campaign, you need to be very specific which keywords you use and you need to optimise your ad-groups correctly, I usually if I can only use 1 keyword per ad-group. And, I always have two ads per ad-group.
You must set a daily budget and you must set a daily budget that you can afford to spend! This is critical, if not, you could end up spending your entire bank balance if you don't get this right.
Start small and slowly expand your ppc efforts, this way you can learn as you go, just be patient!
I study PPC advertising from every angle, I am subscribed to many different forums and membership groups that cost me quite a bit of money every month, and I have been doing this for about 6 months now.
Last month, however, all the training worked out for me as I spent about $180 in PPC advertising costs which generated me a little over $2800 in profits - not bad for one campaign! I have done similarly the same this month so far, and I can attribute most of it to patience, I have just stuck with it and applied what I have learned.
Paid advertising has always had an attraction for me, you simply turn up and turn it on, which I like, but as I have stated, you must follow certain rules.
All the best
Alan

Re: PPC For Beginners
Ahhhh Good Ol PPC
You know companies like APPLE, Microsoft, Pepsi, Aweber use PPC...
But for many people PPC means something different, if you have a big budget like the guys upstairs than PPC is simply in "Brand Recognition Mode"
A great example would be "BlackBerry PlayBook" go ahead and type it in google, you will see the ad, now the product hasn't even launched so it's impossible for the company to take orders, BUT it is a great way to showcase their product. thus their PPC strategy is in "Brand Recognition", "Product Showcase" mode
which leads me to my next point. Are you using PPC to promote a LEAD CAPTURE PAGE in hopes of generating leads ? Thus your PPC efforts are in "Customer Acquisition Mode" Well guys here is some news for you, with the standard conversion rate of 3% your expectations need to be accepting of this dismal number, or your LANDING PAGE, has to do something more than JUST ASK FOR NAME EMAIL TELEPHONE NUMBER. It needs a sticky element like a TEST...
For example...ARE YOU ONLINE BUSINESS MATERIAL ? take the test...Come on everyone loves the challenge right ?
Through this test and survey you are drip extracting data from them... To start the test...Enter Your Email...
Then ask questions...now what this does is engage your audience, interactive websites convert much higher than NON INTERACTIVE, and keeps the user on the site much longer...ANYONE THINKING FACEBOOK, or YOUTUBE ? you got it....
Now PPC BASICS
Do not think otherwise that there is NOT A BIT OF SEO BASICS involved in PPC
If your site is relevant to Network Marketing, market within the scope, make sure your site is relevant to that scope.
QUALITY SCORE: I like to think of this as YOUR SEO SCORE
The Check List
H1 tags Relevant To Marketed Keyword? Check
3% to 9% Occurrence of Keyword ? Check
NOT A REPLICATED SITE ? Better Not Be
(Marketers who try to market replicated sites piss me off when the complain about getting slapped by google and beg me to get them back on, Replicated Landing Pages will do horribly in QUALITY SCORE)
Here's the logic, you joined some CPA, or decided to use a super cool marketing systems landing page
20 morons do the same LOL.
Said 20 morons all decide to market on using "Home Based Business" as the keyword monopolizing the term.
For google this is bad business because their sponsored search business model has yield billions upon billions, add more billions if you prefer - of dollars in profits, has catapulted them to 616 per share on wall street, and they will defend their business by making sure that their user's (the one who clicks your ads) have the best search experience possible - if their user's lost faith in google's ability to provide variant relevance per query, THE PPC MODEL GOES DOWN THE TUBES...THUS NO REPLICATED SITES PLEASE. Carbon Copy Pro already got nabbed for this, as well as many other Home Business Entities.
Now back to our check list
So you HAVE A UNIQUE LANDING PAGE ? CHECK
Value Proposition ? CHECK
webmasters place their own value on lead aggregation before the value of information offered to the potential lead...focus on flipping this around
FREE FREE FREE is KEY
is there any viral element to your landing page ? like a facebook share button after they have taken your survey or test?
Do you have any information that they would want to call their buddy joe up and say WOW take a look at this ? If you don't start thinking of creative ways to solicit the sharing experience
Now you have a solid landing page for PPC
Now ppc implementation takes skill
Look for dynamic keyword insertion where possible
Create ads that catch the eye, evoke emotion rather than just state numbers
Add Example I just found - about women entrepreneurs, and woman pursuing business
THIS AD SUCKS
Join Passion Parties
Kits start at $230. Earn 40% on All
Sales, Cash Bonuses and more!

A MORE COMPELLING AD
A Womans Business
Take Back Your Life Forget Your
Husband & Make Your Own Money
example URL
Basically you want your ads to evoke emotion, whether it be pain, happiness, or laughter...not just pimp numbers and sound like the next six figure ad guy.
Emotion markets better than anything in the world...
Anyone ever see the Geico Commercial with the piglet screaming WEEEEEEE, WEEEEEEEE, WE, WE, WEEEEEEEEEEE, oh I laughed my arse off...It has nothing to do with car insurance, but ...
A. It's viral
B. Evoked Laughter
C. Because it evoked an emotion I will remember that commercial and GEICO for some time to come....
THIS IS WHAT YOUR ADS NEED TO DO
Thats it allllllll done

If you are looking for tools to help manage - Clicksweeper was such a popular solution for some time and seems to be still with us and more feature loaded now. Adwatch also worth investigating if you are worried about the possibility of fraud.

Re: PPC For Beginners
I think PPC is great, if you have the money to play with. Too many people try it out and waste their money and valuable time, they could have spend on easy to learn FREE techniques.
There are 2 kinds of people in the world; those that fail at MLM and those that get the right tools and skills and succeed.
