Getting that top search engine ranking is something that many marketers are aiming for and will continue to aim for. The competition is immense, but it is not difficult to get that ranking if you know what to do and how to do it. The reason why many marketers aim for that top spot is because with that spot comes massive exposure in the form of hits, traffic and leads. Today I will tell you what is needed and exactly how you can get that top search engine ranking and many more after that.

To get a top search engine ranking...

You will need 4 core action steps and 1 sub action step. These 4 action steps are having your targeted keyword in the URL of your article or content you have created, having the keyword in the title of the content, using the keyword in the article's description and getting backlinks to that article. You will not get the top search engine ranking that you want without doing these 4 things. Doing one or two of them is also insufficient and will not get you that top spot.

The sub action step I was talking about is actually more related to your blog or website and that is the page rank. The higher your page rank is, the more prestigious you will appear to the search engines which will make it a lot easier to get that top search engine ranking. How do you get a high page rank? By getting quality backlinks to your blog or site from sites that have a page rank of 3 or higher. With the backlink some of the link juice will also fall on your site therefore slowly increasing your own rank. The more QUALITY backlinks you have, the easier it will be to get a top search engine ranking and then also maintain that top ranking.

Before you get to the backlink stage though you will first need to complete the earlier stage which is your keyword research and using your keyword in the title, description and URL. Without doing all of these, your chances of getting a top search engine ranking will be next to none. If you want to grab that top spot or even the top 3 spots of the results page then you simply need to do the right things in the right way. So write your content and ensure that you use the keyword in the places I have told you to use them.

Getting ranked in the search engines is not that much of a difficult task. It may be a little time consuming yes, but it is time that would be well spent. Yeah SEO is definitely a slow and steady progress. Being too aggressive will only result in the search engines, mainly Google decreasing your chances of getting to the top!

The concept about not going too fast is really important and should be emphasized. There are many people that are new to the internet that get caught up in buying links cheap. Never buy a bunch of links (high volume) from a fly by night company. Google hates these.

It really comes down to the quantity, diversity and quality of the links. A natural feel that will rank you higher.

Don't forget your site as well. You should have good internal linking.

Also, keep adding to your site. Each blog post, is an additional page on your site. The more depth of information on your site has the better. It also, very importantly, gives you further back linking opportunities.

There are many good SEOs available in market, thought you can't rely on all of them, as it involves your hard earned money. Though I used to do SEO by myself and currently has 4 websites for 3 keywords each as first result (of course first page). Now I'm busy doing other marketing stuff I've given my work to "My SEO Zebra – http://www.myseozebra.com " , and so far I'm satisfied with their services.
