The fastest way to market your product or service out to the marketplace is with a pay per click advertising campaign. In a matter of minutes you can be on page one of some of the most popular keywords relating to the theme of your website. A pay per click advertising campaign is easy to start.
Open an account and deposit some money as a starting balance with the search engine company that you are advertising with. To start you enter your site's URL, title and description and bid on relevant keywords. A site selling jewelry would bid on keywords such as, "jewelry," "gold jewelry," "silver jewelry" etc. When someone searches for "jewelry" the details of your site appear, in the form of a search result with the URL, title and description you entered. If they then click on your listing, your account is debited the amount you have bid on that keyword.
What makes this so effective is that someone who has searched for your product is already targeted to your site. It is important that your keywords are relevant and link to the page that contains information relating to that keyword. Also be sure and only bid on keywords for the minimum bid amount when you are first starting. Generally you can bid as low as .05 cents on lesser searched keywords. This strategy makes it more affordable for you as you learn how to use pay per click advertising more profitably. It will take you more keywords to get the traffic you want, but it will cost you less.

Pay per click is great and it does provide a great service for Web site owners who need targeted customers now.
Just watch out for runaway cost associated with this type of campaign.
When I was selling real estate the average cost per click for the search terms I wanted was around $2-$5.
I did sell 2-3 houses a month so It was worth it.
The best strategy is to perform some SEO work on your site so that in the long term you can get clients from the Organic search results.
The combination of the 2 will give you a good ROI on your money.

Hi
I have been using PPC for a while now with varying degrees of success. It's quite true - if you jump into it without learning first, your wallet will certainly shrink really quickly!
There are thousands of "How to beat PPc" solutions on the market so its certainly worth checking around, and reading opinions in places liekthis bfore you get that plastic out.
I came across a ppc blog site two weeks ago which has loads of good free information and sensible features on the subject (it's at http://www.ppcbloggerinfo.com/ It's got online vids and reviews as well.
If anyone has any recommendations on systems, I'd like to hear about them!

Hi Geoff,
Perry Marshall has a revised addition of "The Ultimate Guide To Google Adwords" which is quite good. Also, I have heard lots of good things about an ebook written by Kyle and Carson from http://wealthyaffiliate.com. I have not read it myself, however I believe it is a Clickbank product.

PPC is a Beast, That so Few really learn to tame. I have spend the last couple month training the best to spit out leads for leads for me for next to nothing. There is nothing better than taking a coiuple days away from the ol' monitor and keyboard and still seeing leads, sales and new team members come in.
If there was any advice that I could give anyone coming into this industry is to learn how to tame the PPC beast. It makes everything easier...social media, blogging. use your ever growing list to become your tribe and promote your material for you.

Re: What is Pay per Click and How does it work?
Lot of people come into PPC, bidding on hundreds of keywords, resulting in spending all daily budget on a few clicks on highly competitive keywords, getting no conversion.
Or the opposite will happen - the ad will not be displayed, because you cannot afford to bid high enough to place it to top 5 spots. The more competitive the keyword is, the more it costs, and the less clicks you can afford. People tend to spend money on keywords that are searched the most. But what good is a keyword that gets 1million searches a month, when all you can afford is 3-4 clicks a day? Bid on longer, less searched keyword phrases. You will be able to afford more clicks, pay less and the longer phrases tend to be more relevant too. No doubt that more generic words are searched more and also get more clicks, but until you can afford to play the high league, pick up the breadcrumbs the high-rollers do not feel like picking.

PPC is great but paid media is also rising in popularity. The latter can be also better in some ways then PPC. No bashing with network marketers for instance

A lot of people advised me to stay away from PPC for some reason. I guess you have to use your discretion when it comes to this type of stuff.
I think that if you already have a good amount of demand for your business established, then you can use PPC to tap into a wider market. For example, do your marketing locally(offline stuff) and use a lot of free marketing methods like social media. Then after you've established some demand, you can use PPC.
Thats just how I feel about the whole thing.

i don't think PPC can improve our site's ranking as stated above. PPC is used to attract customers into our sites by paying ads that are to be posted in other websites. PPC can therefore increase traffic into our site but never to improve its ranks in the SERPs.

Yes,I just view PPC as a kind of pay-perlick advertisement related to search engine. It will not contribute to page rank.
