There is no end to SEO tactics. All of those mentioned here are must do's but to do them all by yourself is practically impossible unless you are working with a group of people, such as a tribe of some kind.

It definitely all hinges first and foremost upon your keyword research prior to even building your website/blog. That was one concept that took me a while to understand but once integrated it sure makes like easier and your content isn't just blowing in the wind with you wondering why you're not getting traffic.

That's why I've branched out to training newbies how to create a simple product website, SEO rich with on and offsite SEO, that links to their corporate site and that get's on Google page 1 as fast as possible.

Hi,
SEO has become a hot topic these days. How do you get your web site within the first page or two of the search engines? How do you increase your Google page rank?
There are many companies who dedicate themselves full time in doing SEO. However, there are some simple things you can do when building your site that will help increase your chances of having good results. Some of them are listed below :-
1. Title Tag - The title tag is technically not a Meta tag, though it is commonly associated with them. The title tag plays an important role in the indexing to your web site.
2. Meta Tag - There are two main Meta tags in terms of SEO — the description and the keyword tag. It’s a debatable issue whether the search engines use the description tag as far as ranking your results. However it is considered as one of the more important tags because it is listed in your search result — it is what users read when your link comes up and what makes them decide whether or not to click on your link.
3. Alt Attributes on Image
4. Title attributes On the Links
5. Link Building Approach
6. Work On Social Networking Sites

The first thing you want to focus on is your on-page seo. Because of all the changes with Google's algorithm your "on-page" factors will be more important going into the future. Plus you have complete control over the quality of content you have on your site and how well it's optimized for the keywords you target. Your keyword density should be around 2 percent. Sprinkle in a few related keyword terms as well. Then you have your header tags (H1 and H2) and your Image alt tag. Just post lots and lots of content and you will pick up traffic from long tail keywords you weren't even going after, google likes this.

Off-page SEO - Guest posts, spend some money and gets some really good tools for backlinking (that's what I plan on doing). Forum marketing,Blog Comments,Press Releases.

On-Page SEO - Well, the SEO Pressor plugin comes free with the affiliate blogging system that I market. So all my On-page stuff is pretty much streamlined and don't have to think about it anymore. Not to mention the domain name...

Off-Page - I use a massive auto-syndication (yes, auto) tool that not only backlinks for me, but has other people backlinking me too. I get around 1500-2000 links per blog post.

I'm not an SEO guru, but these are some basic things that have helped me get found.

At the end of the day you want all of your backlinks to appear natural to the search engines. So 2,000 backlinks in one day and no more backlinks after that looks like spam. Also a natural link profile will contain nofollow links so don't be afraid of them.

In respond to a previous comment, it would be fine for a site about oranges to link to a site about apples. People who eat oranges might also be interested in apples. But again, back to the link profile. A natural grouping of backlinks with have links from a wide variety of sources but the majority will have some kind of relevancy.

So anytime you're considering a backlinking campaign just ask yourself if the search engines would consider the entire link profile to be natural.

WOW good question, particularly in this day and age. Google is making massive changes once again and more site de-indexing is certainly on the way.

Artificial backlinks and such, are going to be a certain receipt for failure. Millions if sites were de-indexed durring the Panda update, and more de-indexing is on the way to those improperly promoting their sites.

I was very fortunate in that, I just started blogging a couple of months ago, and didin't use all the black hat methods of promoting my blog that has been the result in so many sites being de-indexed. I was very reluctant to start blogging, as I'm not the best writer, and I didn't really want to take the time to do all the SEO.

That being said, after joining a new online training platform, It really opened my eyes to the value of owning my own pice of cyber real estate, so regardless whether or not I thought it was a good idea, I couldn't deny the facts.

The platform I joined, gave me an extremely powerful and high ranking turnkey blog, so that was a huge bonus in getting started. I proceeded to learn there, and then decided I wanted to tackle building my own blog. I wanted to wean myself off the blog I was given, yet still using it's massive ranking power.

After all, I was having tremendous success with the turnkey blog, so the natural progression was to venture out and build my own from scratch. This was so much better than floundering around on my own first, it saved me months of learning and wasted money.

So while I saw the value in owning my own blog, I was still reluctant to do all the SEO etc... so I just figured I would start by adding good helpful content and share my posts on a few different sites.

To my surprise, this worked like crazy! My site was rapidly ranking so I just kept posting and using the leverage of the turnkey blog I got with my new training program.

My blog as of this post, is currently ranking, #475,840 worldwide, and 58,752 in the US! How cool is that, and I've only been blogging a couple of months. You can verify that by researching BruceSolomon.net on Alexa. My ranking varies by the level of my activity, and while I'm not very consistant, I'm still ranking great. This obviously wouldn't be the case without backlinking to the powerful turnkey blog I bought, but the other things I'm doing are helping tremendously as well.

The turnkey blog I bought is only $25, and boy has it been well worth it, it's way better than all the money I've spent on ranking tools that didn't work. I'm sure you've been there and probably been just as frustrated as I, waisting more money on another program that doesn't work.

By the way, that would be my first word of advice when asking for SEO advice, look up the individuals site you are getting advice from. If they aren't ranking, there not walking the talk...

So to answer your question, good quality content is key, and video seems to rapidly taking over... so make sure you are using video in your content. I'm doing very little to no SEO in my posts as you will see, but leveraging other networks has been the key.

The thing that we all tend to fail at... me included...is consistency, consistance and persistance is key.

Hope that helps, visit my blog at the link below for more on our industry.

This is gonna sound pretty boring, but in my opinion it really is coming down to producing strong content, getting high-authority links, and publishing tons of good quality content. That and a longterm commitment to working on your website every day... That means either creating content for your website or promoting it elsewhere online.

Hi,
The best way to get back-links would be to work on social bookmarking sites. You can also work on appropriate forums, blog commenting sites. Article submission and directory posting can also be useful for getting back-links.

Amen.....

You're right, its all about earned media. Too many people think of seo as the wild west, those days are leaving us fast. I've been doing SEO full time and part time for the past couple of years and my tactics have changed drastically.

I'm not proud to say it, but when I first started it was all about directory submissions, social bookmarks and site wide links for your chosen anchor text. But now its all about long term wins. Branded links are becoming the powerful links you can build back, and I can see this going on for the next couple of years until backlinks make up a much smaller part of the algorithm and social/author rank starts to occupy the majority.

Hope this helps :)
