30 Day Moneyback Guarantees Will Cost You

Postby Richard Tolar on Thu Dec 25, 2008 10:00 am

I never really gave it much thought before yesterday but now I know to read the fine print.

I'm targeting the web hosts that have a very impressive 30 day Money Back guarantee icon on their page.

I signed on with one so that I could try out a program to market some affiliate programs. It was cheap enough, 3.86 p/mo with a free domain name and a lot of other features. That's pretty good. The trouble was, for me anyhow, is that the control panel is not one that I have ever used. It's not the normal Linxus or 'C' Panel.

I spent half my time trying to get it to do things. I'm sure I could have figured it out, but, being a bit pressed for time, I decided that I wanted to drop it and try another one. NOT FOR FREE!

The really impressive 30 Day Money Back Guarantee Icon did not quite cover everything involved. There are charges that are not mentioned out in the open.

My point? Read the fine print. I didn't and it cost me just under 20 bucks. They are reasonable charges but it would be nice to have a little star or something to trigger your wondering if it is an actually guarantee.

The net is a grand world. It's full of all kinds of things that a nubee must learn.

Good netting to all

Hi RT,

My experience involved being signed up for a "free thirty day trial" without knowing it. I had purchased a $7 ebook which put me on the mailing list. Finding nothing of value in the subsequent emails, I started to ignore them. It wasn't until I noticed a $47 charge on my credit card that I realized I had been given the 30 day trial as a "thank you" for my purchase. Of course, when I didn't opt out, the monthly charge kicked in.

I was able to get my money back, but you sure do have to keep on top of things!

Thank goodness my positive experiences on the web have far outweighed the negative. And forums like this one allow us to warn others of the pitfalls!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful season - just received a video from two friends in Australia dressed in Hawaiian shirts and Christmas garland! While I was dealing with snow, looks like they were having a heat wave!

Fortunately, the "good guys" are out there in great supply and more than willing to help out the newbies. We learn by doing, and then hopefully become mentors to those starting out after us.
