A Plea To Those Of You Who Put On Webinars, etc...

Postby Dave Kotecki on Thu Jan 21, 2010 8:03 am

This has been bugging me for a while.

For crying out loud, if you're going to put on an event give the
freakin' date and time in the @#!$%$^! email!

I'm so sick of the "See you tonight!" crap I could gleefully pull the plug
on their stupid webinar, teleseminar, whatever.

Guess what geniuses! Some people don't know what day it is!
Some people are in different time zones!
Some people are so far out that it's not even the same day where they
are as it is where you are!
So when the hell is tonight?
What night?
What if it's already night?

How do you expect people to show up?
Is that how you run your business?

Take note all would-be professionals.

ALWAYS INCLUDE THE DATE AND TIME OF ANY IMPORTANT EVENT OR MEETING IN YOUR EMAILS. DO NOT RELY ON INACCURATE SPEECH THAT DOES NOT CONVEY EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN.

Oh, I know. They probably write that way because it's more homey and friendly. Well if you expect
to do business with me, I require accuracy. And that means very specific information at all times.

Sloppy communication will lose you prospects and MONEY.

If by chance you are broadcasting messages for training that come from your online recruiting system, be sure to change the emails to include dates and times of events for your prospects.
They'll really appreciate it, and they'll be able to plan better.
Who knows? Maybe it'll even increase your attendance.

Dave,

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Could you be a little more specific?

Seriously, I get those all the time also and many times have found that the event is over by the time 8PM rolls around where I am.
Have a GREAT day,
Warren

Dave, I think the malady is fairly common. I had a customer walk into the newspaper office extremely upset. She'd placed a classified ad for a garage sale she was having. I remember when she had come in to place the ad - all excited - she had moved to a beautiful new house and the garage sale was to get rid of the stuff she wasn't going to move into her new place. She had the ad all neatly typed out, all I had to do was turn it over to the production department.

What was she mad about?? There was no date of when the garage sale was going to take place ! (That was our fault by the way, even though she had typed up the ad)

She was so wrapped up in the actual event she had never taken the time to sit down and read the ad from her potential customers point of view. She knew all the details so therefore everyone else should too.

I think that was the first time I ever ran into someone who blamed everyone else for something that was obviously her own error ! "It's not my fault" attitude got her her money back and a major red flag on her file.

But you are right - it is a rather unprofessional !

Can we add to this the e-mail that arrives the day AFTER the webinar? :o I have that happen often and it irritates the heck out of me! Then they complain that no one is attending...gee, wonder why?

You'd think this would just be common courtesy for people to include in their promotion of the event, but I guess not.

Kinda hard for anyone to show up if they don't know where or when...maybe I'm just crazy :?

Agree. I just delete it when I see that. I don't have the time to go back to the person and get all the correct details. Also, I just delete it when the same person keeps sending me the same webinar info over and over again.
