Does Somebody Out There Care

Postby Paul Huxtable on Sun Oct 11, 2009 7:51 pm

Do you ever notice how a lot of Gurus only show up to notify you via email that they have a friend who has discovered a great way to make money online, and you would be missing a great opportunity if you didn’t sign up with them that exact same minute that you have finished reading their email.

These are the people I hate, Internet Gurus. These are people who have got in the race early and made they’re money. Now because they got in there early, means they have the emails, names and addresses of people like you and me that they have sold their products to and a good 50% will buy from them again, for whatever reason. This is a habit we have to break, because I’ve noticed they also always never really follow through on their promise. The promise to show you the way to make the same kind of financial rewards they have succeeded in building.

This story will sound very familiar to a lot of you beginning marketers out there. If so please share your stories so we can all better prepare ourselves, it’s time we started to make things more even on the playing field. :)

Hi Paul,

The way to "break" this cycle, is to develop your own list over time by adding value to others.

It doesn't take a lot of know (ie. get on 1 or 2 webinars), and get a few kernels of true to help others.

eg. make a brief video, helping solve a problem, make a submission to a forum and put a link to help others. Sell nothing upfront, but give value for free.

- Once you do that, people join others they "know, like and trust", which builds a bridge for them to buy from you later, once you have helped them in the beginning.

All these "gurus", had to do it tough and start somewhere, before they became big.

- the thing is, anyone's "overnight" success, comes after paying one's dues, and might be a "6 month overnight success, or more"!!!

I think that Better Networker (BN) is a good place to develop relationships with fellow marketers and share learning.

Let me know what you think and feel free to "Connect" with me via BN.

Best regards,

John.

I hear yah, I understand.

Here's what I think.

What we don't like from what we see, and it's aligned in our business, then we do better. Because the more we complain about it, the more we attract what we focus on the most. Plus, we cannot focus on negativity and positive, productive work at the same time.

So we choose.

That's how we are going to change in our business.

We live our story and anything else, is personally, focusing far too much of our energies on what we don't have control with. Then we suddenly not building a business, or helping the team, and we ain't focused with true purpose.

Same in life. If we see something we don't like, in our belief sector, in our communities, in anything. Then simple..

We be the example.

Because I be honest with you.

There are far too many who complain about what they see, and number is the same with those who complain about tire kickers, prospects who don't do jack, or those who say they serious about wanting to succeed in business...but complain all year long and not get on with the program.

So, we got two choices here.

Use ones time, ones energy, from ones family, life to set up a website that rates guru's. Or..

Turn that energy, to be an example in business, for oneself and family, break records, have customers loving it, team growing fast, and everyone is like..

"Wow!"

And..

"Show us how you do it.."

That for me, is better. Turn that energy now, building your business, towards the culture belief you want, and succeed. That which you don't like, be better, do better and lead by example.

You provided some great information about developing my own list.
I may need your help again so I’ll reach out to you on BN.

Thank you for the detailed advise James.

It looks as though you can provide volumes of value to an Internet Marketer, I've already become an Associate of yours.

Again, thanks for keeping it real. ;)

Hey Paul,

I think a lot of people who are networkers have felt your pain before. The problem isn't really with the internet guru's. The problem is that in most companies people do not have qualified uplines. This leads to people looking for help elsewhere. So they look on the internet and find a capture page that talks about all the problems that they are having. Not only that but they offer a solution to the problems for a low price. They are usually well written ad copy and know exactly which psychological hot buttons to push. You buy it, but there is really no upline support for how to use this product either. You get emails that you can choose to ignore and may not use the system or try and use the affiliate and it doesn't work all that well for you. Leading you to buy the next product and the next one. I'm not saying that these courses aren't worth it. Many of them are, but these are all things that you should be learning from a "qualified" upline in your company. These courses prey on the lack of training that is given to distributors. And the lack of company sponsored training perpetuates the need for these courses. I feel your frustration Paul. But there is a solution, find someone who is going to hold you accountable for your business. People like to think they can do it on their own, they can't. They need a line of support in place to help them succeed. There are three types of people who make loads in Network Marketing, those that "get it", those who work too hard, and those that got lucky. 1/3 of those can build a team in any company, 1/3 will struggle but still do it because they put in 16 hour days, 1/3 could never duplicate their success in a different company. Get up with someone who can explain to you in words that you can relate to what it is you need to do and make them hold you accountable for it.

Personally...

..what a bunch of good friends..personal or business or both..

It does anybody good to look at it any other way..we are talking
about thousands in each list..

Wouldn't we want to have a group of business friends like that?..

I caught myself some time ago but change it fast..sometimes people
can flip my big that is why personal development is a life time thing..

If I had a friend or just knowing that person and needed a way to
promote his brand new ebook..I would help that person out..but I
don't have a list though..see what I mean?..

My friend I can see and feel your sadness.

I do agree with you...we must do something to clear this field of us.

Lots of self-proclaim "gurus"...that turn out to be almost all fake...must of them are like the Mexican restaurant...all are the same but the name and the address.

Hi Aburto,

Thanks for your reply and it seems you can relate to my pain.
I very much like the idea of creating a website to rate these so called gurus. At least it would even the playing field.
I'll definately take that into consideration.
And I'm going to change the photo when my progress in this market improves.

Cheers. :)

Paul,

I hear ya brother.
I used to feel the same way.

BTW, just because they got in "early" doesn't mean you don't have the opportunity
to do the same or better. If you take consistent action on one thing then
your opportunity to make some serious income is endless.

Take all that negative energy aside and tell yourself that you're going to
do whatever it takes to start making the same kind of money these "gurus"
are.

Become the "guru".

Make it happen!
