“Entrepreneurs and revolutionaries are really the same kinds of people born into different circumstances. Both see the status quo in need of change, and both are willing to take the risks, and reap the rewards of changing it.” –Paul Zane Pilzer
OK, so the rates of unemployment and underemployment are high now and the economy is expected to grow slowly. Could it be a blessing in disguise? Let’s see.
A revolution is a change of paradigm. An example is the Copernican revolution hypothesizing that the earth rotated daily on its axis and the planets revolved in orbits around the sun.
Discussions about the economy in the media take place within the context of the employment model. Right now, it is an environment characterized by generalized fear of being “downsized”. And there are endless stories of people who put up with abuse and corruption, setting aside good judgment and conscience because they are afraid of losing their jobs.
In contrast to that, the entrepreneurial model provides the freedom and opportunity for people, with the desire, to design their own businesses around their own unique life purpose. This inner-directed way of being allows access to unlimited creativity, drive and energy. It allows people to pursue their dreams and add value to the lives of others. In return, given that money is an exchange of value, they create wealth for themselves.
Organizational slave or captain of your soul? Which do you want?

Roxena.Hi!
My choice is: I want to be the captain of my own soul...meaning my whole being.
I do agree with your description about our current situation as a nation and abroad.
The paradigm shift very well could be a great opportunity for MLMarketers but for me this will require a lot of work...let me elaborate a little bit more.
The statistics reflect the low level of confidence people have about the future...they do not trust in any of the biggest parties in the country...the Stock Market is almost in a Bear terrain...for first time in a decade our country showed the lowest percentage of Small Business start ups.
I go back to my argument that the opportunity that all these circumstances bring about...means lots of work...WHY?
1** There is people that were fired...that simple rather go to pick the unemployment check with the hope that they will be rehired.
2** There is people that simple does not have what it takes to be successful as entrepreneurs...because:
A) They are no good employees.
B) They never got new skills
C) They simple were to lazy
D) They will never be rehired again even if the economy improves.
So...is just my opinion...the main job with all this human material is to reajust their mindset...little by little...MLMarketers and other Home Base Business can take the challenge to re-educate all these persons train them...and let me tell Roxena...you are right...is a huge opportunity...if you have the tools and the training and patience...you will reap huge rewards!
Be well,
Roger Aburto
P.S. I have to clarify that the Bear I mentioned above is not the same Bear of Diane Bochman.

I agree with Lynda. This would make a great blog post.
Regarding the topic as a whole, I think we're fast reaching a point where self-employment is no longer going to be an option, but a must, if you want to make any kind of decent income. And it's the government that's driving it. Every time they pass a law that forces companies to pay for something they don't want to pay for, employees get let go and are replaced by independent contractors. Heck, if you're going to force self-employment on someone, why not be self-employed where you can make as much money as you want?
And yes, "we" are revolutionaries. People like us are changing the world at this very moment.

Great website! I have bookmarked it for future reference.
Attraction marketing is a whole lot more than another tactic to increase sales. It involves our own personal growth and development as human beings first so as to add value to the lives of others. It is contribution rather than exploitation. Let's change the paradigm.

Thank you so much Roxsena! Believe me, my blog is a work in progress and ever evolving.
You're so right. Attraction marketing is all about contribution. I am just thrilled when someone takes the time to let me know that they got some thing from one of my posts that helped them in their business. Feedback only helps me help other people even more. And guess what? I learn from other peoples blogs.
By the way, I love your name.

It has become riskier to work for someone else than for yourself. The first time I got my husband to understand that concept was to use an analogy of spaceships (that says a lot about my husband!) - a big ship has a chain of command and decisions have to go through a lot of people and it is slow to change course, even once the decision has been made; a small ship can react and manoeuvre quickly, which is what seems to be needed now.
Paul Zane Pilzer points out (in The Next Millionaires) that big corporations are a relatively new (and historically anomalous) creation and that most people were entrepreneurs before that.
