Every One Has A Secret?

Postby Malika Duke on Wed Dec 10, 2008 10:32 am

Hey family, I found a post in another home based business community to today and I wanted to share it with you guys because it gives insight into the mind of your target audience if you market to attract other current/former home based business owners.

Here is a reprint of the original post:

Have you noticed that everyone has the secret to why leaders in an mlm is successful? These capture pages that profess to be the ultimate secret that everyone has been looking for?

Apparently we believe it because we all sign up for these. What do you think about these capture pages with the video of someone claiming to have found the best marketing system on the net? Are you a member? How is its working for you? Forgive me if I don't believe you.

You can post your responses here (unless you ant to become a member there too)... I was last to respond at the time of posting.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Great post Malika!

The idea of a "secret" causes one to think that maybe it's not been revealed yet, that maybe this is the "untold bit of information" to get me to what I've always dreamed of.

One day you hear there is a secret, the next day you hear there is "no secret" to success.

I liked the replys to the post on the link you provided. Most of us are pretty immune to that type of marketing now because we are hard at it every day. The tortoise and the hare keeps coming to mind for me lately ... The book The Slight Edge as well.

A hidden (maybe considered a secret) step for me until recently was that I was not THINKING properly. I understood that I should think a certain way, but I had not yet to date made the effort to switch directions in my thinking process. Think and Grow Rich is a great resource for me, and I am a part of a weekly mastermind group where we discuss one chapter each week.

That's been the shift for me ... while others have know it for a long time.

When you know the truth, it truly does set you free!

Thanks again for the referral to the post and for sharing your thoughts.

Warmest regards,

Jennifer Wideman

It is just one of those great marketing words. I think what we have is revelation of how things work. Secretes are a buzz word for education as that is what we are offering.

Wishing you the best life has to offer.

@ Jennifer,Glad to see that you are getting a long in your self improvement education. It is so important in business for us to remind ourselves of our inherent greatness! Keep it up and keep us informed of your progress through your posts.

@ helpformlm, I feel the same about the word. I think the poster is just a bit mistrusting and doesn't relate to the marketing message... It just goes to prove once again that your target audience will sort themselves when you are doing your job with copy.

He obviously wasn't who those landing pages were talking to. He need to keep looking til he finds it.

Uh oh... I'll admit I'm not too skeptical of what I see with all of these messages of "secret success"... "secret sauce" whatever one chooses to call their widget.

Reason being is because someone may have just a slightly different spin on a method, tool, etc. and for me it could be just what the doctor ordered right now. That is why I'll pay attention or at least I'll take a cursory glance at what's on the table. Hey, I know I don't have to eat everything on it!

Also, there's a host of other buzzwords that get tossed around like a fly in a wind storm too these days but again I'm ok with that. The fact still remains that 90 plus percent of network marketers and website owners fail in their businesses! Even in the "Information Age".

Apparently only a handful of marketers know this "common secret" that people everywhere can't seem to figure out.

Interesting...

Continued Success,

I know something you don't know!

Postby Rick Lelchuk on Sat Dec 27, 2008 6:05 pm

Can't you just hear it on every elementary school playground as one child taunts another in that whiney sing-song way. Nyah, nyah, nyah, I know something you don't know. Phuleeeeezzzze tell me what you know. What is it? Can I be part of it too, huh, can I? Can I?

It is so part of the basic nature of being human - wanting to belong, being needed, being loved. If you don't know the secret you're on the outside looking in. Ouch! If you've never been there you've never been born. We are all pretty simple, very similar in our needs and wants. And, if we say we're not really interested in the secret or don't fall for those tactics it's merely a finely tuned defense mechanism at work in high gear. We're dying to know.

How about - over there is better than over here; or mine dog is better than your dog. Always, always remember we humans just want to be.... are you ready for this one? Hold up a moment, let it settle in, feel the rise of anticipation? Can't stand it for any longer?

We Humans, All of Us, Just Want to Be... RIGHT!

So, have some fun with it. Go make someone right today.

Personally, I am so done with those outlandish claims. If they are so successful why are they not cruising the world in their converted Aircraft Carrier!! As a business Professional I am split, b/c those ads do work. they do pull. But do you really want qauntity or quality in YOUR BUSINESS!!

As this IS a business, I go for the quality, but then again you just never know, who just gets it and takes off like a rocket. so never pre-judge!!

Yes I agree with you. That's why we try to have a Catchy Headlines etc. & it is part of smart marketing.

I believe most of the people do really have something to offer. If they don't they will know very soon by the results they get.

I personally do not mind signing up for them if I feel that it is going to help me. If I am not happy I would just unsubscribe.

If I was too skeptical like this gentleman I know for sure I would be still struggling with my MLM. :!:

Thanks to the secrets many shared on their sites I found the systems & educational programs that suit me to help me build my presence on the internet & my business.

I found great teachers like Mike Dillard, Mike Klingler, Ann Sieg, Eben Pagan.. etc & many great networking contacts because I was happy to look at what other people have to offer or I guess wanted to find the Secret! ;)

Lastly Malika I loved your response to the post, one day I'll be a great poster like you!

Happy New Year to all Betternetworkers!
