I wasted an hour (dumb) with a lady on the phone yesterday. I don't know why she called. She didn't really want any advice.

She was all pumped. She had a prospect. Looking at her company and one other. She had a meeting scheduled with them and she had dug up all the dirt she could on this other company. The goal was to show her prospect and this other company rep that his company was crap and they were then going to both join her in her company.

Did I know the other company had compression in their comp plan? Ah lady, compression is a good thing. She never even missed a beat.

Did I know the other company required 100 autoship PLUS 400 points each month before you made any money? Uh uh, and where's your breakage point? Her's was only a 100 points and that right there was going to convince them both the other company was crap.

The conversation continued. (I know - dumb) But I figured she must have phoned me for a reason.

I started off gently - Had she ever been in or around a scenario where two guys were comparing their jobs, cars, penises and it degenerated into a slug fest? Sure, she was familiar with that. Was there a winner? Did she realize that's what she was doing? Did she know professionals were above that kind of behaviour?

I advised her to cancel the appointment and meet the prospect alone. I advised her to junk the pages of notes she had on the other company and just focus on hers and what it could offer this prospect. I advised her to never start a relationship with someone based on such a negative approach.

I may as well have been talking to the wall. She'd been trained that pointing out what was wrong with other companies and then offering hers as the "only and best" alternative was the way to build a business.

Good luck, lady. I hope she loses my number.

She will never have a large team or a high retention. She'll never make the kind of money she's talking about. Can't do it when the foundation of your marketing is my penis is bigger than yours.

Only a woman would have a chat with another woman and refer to the conversation by making a reference to a mans genitalia? would it not have been easier to make a reference to a womans and just say that she spoke like a complete c*** (yes you guessed it the word is 'co-ed')...
Or is there a hidden side to Joyce coming out here?

ps: can you imagine the uproar if the men spoke of a woman on here in the same way?

Hey Jim. Sorry if I offended you but if you've been around teen boys at all you know darn well the competition is highly active. Some boys don't grow up as fast as others and I've seen guys in their late twenties still competing. Shoving, pushing, fist fights to prove who's bigger, better, stronger. Cripe it gets more refined as the years go on but it's still there.

Relax Jim. It wasn't a poke at men - it's simply something that young men go through. It won't stop and pretending it doesn't exist is like burying your head in the sand.

Women don't have the same type of competitiveness, not in that way anyway.

It was the right point to make for her behaviour. We all understand it, she just didn't see it in herself.

Joyce you certainly did not offend me. In fact I liked your post and I was hoping that more would have commented on it. The only reason that I did is because it was number 19 on the page and it looked like it was gonna slide off...so I commented... simple as that.
I just kinda thought that it gave us all a better picture of you.... not just the smiling pretty lady on the homepage...but one of a lady discussing an mlm meeting with a struggling pupil but in the back of her mind thinking about mens nobs

No gangster but realistic. Have 3 sons. Played lots of sports. Know, saw and understand the competitiveness of boys.

Let's take the analogy a different direction.

When you begin sharing your story, or in this case size, with your prospect, they have 3 questions.

1) Who are you?
2) What do you have?
3) Why should I care?

Hmmmmmm....
